Used Alfa the other day to program 2 new FOB's. Was really pretty easy once I had my PIN number for the truck. Neat part was after going through the steps, you place FOB in ignition, bingo it's programmed! Just remember, base line goes into ignition and premium is push to start. Saved about $200 doing myself! Now have the extras in safe if needed! Enjoy these Trucks!!

The Alfa OBD II seems to be Android only and I'd have to buy something to use the Alpha.
What would be an alternative to the Alpha for a good OBD II reader/programmer?

I use my laptop for AlfaOBD since I don't have an android phone.

Not real clear on their page, how does the laptop connect?
Special Cable or Blue Tooth (which my old LT doesn't have).

EDIT: BT dongles for a laptop are cheap... so Bluetooth to connect?

Just pick an Android tablet. That way you have a larger screen and Bluetooth connection! Alfa allows so much more than just code reading and if you get the MX+ OBD, it has a code reader and gauges with logging. JM2C.

I'll dig out the old Samsung Note one... see if it still works.

does the Alpha OBD work on the 2021 3500? I bought the MX+ and the bypass cable for the 2018-2020 but I don't see where to plug the little seperate wire to. Any help would be great.

thanks

There is a video from the company you bought the bypass cable from. You have to remove one of the pins in the OBD connector then the other side plugs into the canbus.

Hmmmm I can’t seem to find a video for the 2021’s.
This is the cable I bought. Did I get the right one?

So after forgetting about it for a while, I hooked it up again and played around with it. It didn't seem like the global windows down was working, but then I tried the remote the next day and it did work. Way cool!

When I was reading through certain truck options (a few years back) I noticed that depending on certain options you had, it takes away other options. I dont recall the specifics now but as I recall rain sense wipers and auto dim bright lights were not available if you had the 3rd brake light camera for the bed or maybe it was bed lighting. Anyway rain sense and the auto dim are two features I would like to enable. Has anyone activated these? If so did it disable anything you already had? My truck is a limited, I dont know if I have these two items that just need to be enabled, or if I need to buy the components and install them. The bed camera is nice but since I changed my RV over to a gooseball, the camera cannot see the gooseball due to the folded hard bed cover so I can do without it.

Look at your rear view mirror and see if there is a camera facing forward thru the windshield.

Was 2015 the year the cargo camera displays on the mirror?

I’ve got both cameras, auto dim, rain sensing wipers, and led bed lights all enabled on mine but it’s an 18 so that may play a role.

The backup camera on the tailgate displays on the rear view mirror. You can switch between the tailgate and cargo bed on the 8.4" display, I havent seen if you can switch displays on the mirror anywhere. This is how you know your getting old, I used to know every little capability on my vehicles, re-rooted my phones, built my own computers...now...meh, lol

2016+ MY allowed one to move the cargo and backup camera around. 2015 no go! Chris

I assume your talking about switching the tailgate and cargo camera on the mirror, because you can definitely change them on the 8.4" display on a 2015 (or at least my 2015)

I hate that my tailgate camera is only in the mirror. If I had known opting for cargo cam would cause this I would never have ordered it.

I wish there was an easy fix!!!

That is the only thing I am not happy about on my factory ordered truck.
