On your '20, you'll need the security bypass cable, Alfa OBD software (Android and Windows Only, no IOS as of now), and either a Bluetooth adapter or cable for OBD port if using laptop without Bluetooth. The recommended Bluetooth is the MX+ thats had the best success but others due work. Plenty of help from other members along with other forums. You can read codes, clear codes, run checks and change settings. Like being able to check lights by walking to back of truck or trailer and turning on just 1 light at a time without having a helper to check brake lights! When you get Alfa, first thing is to print a config file to keep track of what you change so you can change back if it doesn't work. I keep a log book of the changes along with the original config file. Lots of things to play with! Also handy if you have to take truck in for service and they flash system and you loose your settings!!!!!!!!!! Been down that road!

If any are interested; I re-tried the Stationary Desoot again and this is how it went. Using a Dell PC and connected via OBDLink MX+
I learned to initiate the test you have to scroll to the bottom of the information text in the center dialog box.
Started the test and the engine rpm went up to about 1050 The Alpha screen shows "Stationary Desoot Status : Active ( in the center box )
The lower box on Alpha shows "Test in progress... "
After about 1 minute the lower box shows " Failed: Requested procedure is not supported by unit."
But the engine rpm is still at 1050 so I went to the "Read System Status" and read through that display and that showed Stationary Desoot in progress.
And it seems the procedure is still running so I left it go. It ran for 65 minutes and then returned to normal idle speed.
I re-checked the "Read System Status" and the state of the DPF is now "Normal"
So was the procedure successful? I had hoped either Alpha or the dash display would have confirmed this.
Also to add to my questions the truck coded during this process with U059F

How hot was the exhaust?

Mine was hot enough to singe leg hair at a couple feet!

I also sprayed the radiator with water every few minutes to keep the coolant temps down. It was HOT under hood.

Your two recent codes may well be affecting your ability to regen. Active codes should prevent the desoot event from happening, a faulty sensor could well cause several issues including damaging of emissions components.

P24A2 - Regen incomplete.
P059F relates to a faulty NOX sensor or circuit. This could have caused the P24A2, and it could cause desoot to abort.

That being said it should be apparent if the desoot happens. You will smell a hot exhaust, the fan will regularly engage/disengage and the engine will sound like its under a load compared to a regular high idle.

Yes the Desoot was active, the really hot exhaust and cooling fan cycling are an additional indication. It was about 45 degrees here when I ran it, so I did not do any additional cooling measures, other than run the heat in the cab with the windows open. Does the fact it lasted 65 minutes instead of the noted 80 minutes indicate it was aborted before completion? This is the first time I have gotten the U059F code so I am unsure if that is the cause of the earlier codes and issues or not. I will order the sensor today and also go for a test run for at least 150 miles with a load and see how that goes.

Mine lasted right at 60 minutes.

note your engine hours, your next region should be 24 hours from completion of the manual region.

Mine goes every 24 so yep. May be a little towards the end of the hour, don’t expect one as soon as it clicks over 96.

Im sitting right at 95h and driving with the DPF gauge on all the time, so based on this I should expect it to regen at 96?

Yes, assuming you haven’t had a regen for the DPF filling or had a ECM flash, as both reset the 24 hour timer.

So I did the road test today after the Stationary Desoot and the truck coded U059F at around 50 miles. I also see when using the OBDLink app, that I have "permanent codes" P24A2, P2459, U059F. I am unable to see these "permanent codes" with AlphaOBD. Am I missing how to use this software? I thought I had all codes cleared before starting the Stationary Desoot.
The new NOX sensor is on order and installing that is the next step. However, I am unsure of how to take care of the "permanent codes".

You can not clear any emissions related codes until they are fixed. Even then certain parameters must be met, drive cycles, x amount of key on/off without CEL being set, etc.

Well not sure why, but she went right past 96h doing nothing but at 98h when I was home unhooking a trailer I could smell something, sure enough the DPF gauge said "Regeneration in process".. I hooked back up and headed out on the highway until it finished,.. I guess I will keep an eye on it, I expect it should be 122 now for the next.

Could be from a software update, a slow to complete regen, or a regen was done for DPF %age.

It appears the 24 hour clock starts over at the end of the regen, so a slow regen could add 20-30 minutes to the clock.

Yeah, They did a software update of the backup camera (I think) when I bought it, so maybe that's it.. It had 20miles on it then so could be the delay... I'll keep an eye out for the next time, I would prefer not to shut it down during Regen if I can avoid it. Thanks for the help.
