Can I pile on?

Current daily driver, 2005 Mercedes Benz E320 CDI, is starting to 'creak' when I hit the brakes. 177,000 miles, LF caliper noise, pretty common, gonna just ignore it. I'm noticing a metallic clink over bumps that sounds like it could be related to the subframe. I just put $763 worth of new tires (Bridgestone) on so for now, let the damn thing make noises.

Backup daily driver, 1997 VW Passat TDI, is dead. 299,000 miles, I think it's a relay. It also had decided recently to start misfiring at idle, leak some coolant, and the w/s wipers are stuck on for some reason. Oh, and none of the door locks work.

Primary pickup truck is a '79 F-350 4x4 with a 460 and a C6. It's old enough for a prostate exam and gets 9mpg but looks cool so I keep it.

Backup pickup truck is a 1992 F-250 4x4 with a idi 7.3 and a E4OD. 369,000 miles, it's broken. The transmission is finally unhappy. Surprised it made it this long. It also really needs a new pump, probably injection nozzles, the ign tumbler is a comedy show, and the RR of the box needs more body work after we removed it from the ditch with a shovel. Shovel, like log loader, not manual dirt moving device.

My Toyota Land Cruiser is just sitting there, mocking me. (95 FZJ80 triple locked)
My 4BT Jeep Wrangler project is doing the same. (1992, 4BT, ZF5, Atlas, 44s)
My boat won't start. I've given up on it for this year. Bad fuel, no bueno (Duckworth Pro Steelheader Yamaha 115 jet)
My garden tractor is broke down, belts. (JD GT235)

Work trucks:
-1995 Dodge, 401,000 miles, TCC is locking-unlocking-locking-unlocking. I know there's a quick fix, just have to SEARCH for it. the headliner fell in and the headlight wiring melted, fixed but the headlamps do need an alignment badly. The Toyo M55s are about bald but hoping to limp it along until October when I will be required to replace them. It's my dad's and he has spares so I don't really care at this point.

-2007 Dodge, 271,000 miles, at the moment nothing is broken. No, seriously, it's all good at the moment. It will leave my guy stranded Monday at 0400 now just wait.

My JD tractor (2025R TLB) is brand new, and not broken yet.
My mini excavator has a hyd leak. (JD 50)
My little cat dozer is great. For now... (Dresser TD8G)
My big cat is really a Cat and is also ok right now because I just spent half the skin on my knuckles, two vertebrae and my life savings fixing the engine. (D7)
My big excavator is ok, but gonna cost me any second I can smell it. (Cat 320)
My little excavator's engine is getting weak. The undercarriage is also just about shot. (Hitachi 160)
My dump truck is running great! Just polished the wheels, tanks, air cleaners, and bumpers. (2007 T800 ISX 18spd)
I don't care about the logs trucks but they are still running so F 'em. (T800s, same as dump truck x2)
My tilt deck is awesome because I just spent $10,000 rebuilding it. (Olympic triple)
I don't know where the lowboy trailer is at the moment.....

Hey Mike, I'm always good at spending other people's money. But, after being in your exact situation 6 weeks ago, I have a shiny new truck that goes with me every day. I get in, turn the key, and it works. And God willing in less than 2 years if all goes well, I'll have another shiny new one to do the same with. My days of working on my vehicles all night just to go to work the next day are over. Yes it is financially a bad idea to keep getting a new one all the time, but im too old and tired to fight the battle with the old ones anymore.

Now I just need to thin out the herd.

I’d like to upgrade but just can’t do it this summer. Maybe next year.

My list is not as bad as above BUT still enough for me right now...

Boat needed a water pump and thermostat, pump has leaked out weep hole since I bought it. Pretty sure thermostat was sticking open after first cycle according to temp gauge.
Grabbed wheelbarrow in order to haul tools down to the dock, tire flat. Flipped it to put air in and sidewall blown out....perfect..
Wife mowing with push mower and a rock out front was pushed up by the winter frost...bang! Now that needs a blade...

Yukon is coming apart in a minute for wheel bearing replacement, wife bringing new tire and blade back from town.

Boat turned out ok, holds a constant 140 to 150 ° as it is supposed to. No leaks. It was some hot changing the parts in the sun but I’m no longer pasty white so that’s good..

I know what you mean Wilson, Hurricane Wilma musta weakened a few more trees than I thought and just had one fall in the front yard. thought I'd cut it up today and bring another dead pine down while I was at it.. fuggin chain saw made it thru one tree and into another and decided to start leaking gas. go play with that, can't figure it out except to say it leaks gas out the exhaust with the gas cap off and stops as soon as you seal the tank.... now the POS won't start..
What saw do you have?

Tore into Yukon today, hoping to get it back together in time so I can evaluate the truck.

Brake pads shot so off to town I go.

C/V nut was so tight that my 1/2" air gun would not touch it. Had to put my 3/4" drive ratchet on it and stand on the handle with both feet. Then bounce a little. Torque is supposed to be in the 177 ft lb range BUT that was not the case....

You didn't expect that to come apart easily after all of the salt it has been exposed to over the years did you? :)

Husqvarna Rancher 455
I have a 359 Husky that when I had to replace the fuel tank, I put the wrong handle bolt in the wrong place and wore a hole in the case over a couple of years. If you want to try this carb, you can have it, just pay shipping. Mark

Ok, after changing both front wheel bearings the Yukon is 100%.
Found sticking caliper slides on the truck, replaces them which helped a ton, but there is still something amiss. Truck is here in Jonesport with me so will take it apart again after we get home.
Going under the fifth wheel shortly to remove the belly panels. Then see what could have happened to the electric slide.

Found the problem (I believe), I don’t have to drop the belly. Will get pictures when I go back under there.

Now the issue will be getting it back in time....

Oh God no. But that right one had been replaced at some point and they over torqued that nut like a lot!!
The left one which was original came right off with the air wrench...

You mean the tighten until you grit your teeth method. My father was always good for that. Torque specs.....we don't need no torque specs.

Mike, are you an official Lippert slide repairman yet???

I don’t know about the official part but it’s working again. The bolt that goes into the drive tube for the slave rack was GONE!!
I don’t know where it went, it’s not on the ground or I just haven’t found it yet. Raccoons are pretty clever here, maybe they unthreaded the darn thing.

Local hardware Store had a great selection of Grade 8 stuff so picked up four bolts and locking nuts so I’d have some spare on board...
