Ralph Wood at: www.bypassfilter.com sells both the Gulf Coast (paper towel) and a TP type called Motor Guard Oil Filter (lower cost than Franz). He has been doing this for over 20 years. I have the Gulfcoast that I have used on two Ford PSD and I am waiting for my HO600 due soon to install it there. Ralph took the Gulfcoast off for me and told me that he had found a better filter for the Gulfcoast than paper towel. He came up with this for his job at work where they needed less than 0. 1 micron. He has a 1-800 number on his WEB. Cozy, The Old Fighter/U-2 pilot...

Hi Cozy,

People seem to like the little filters for the Dodge Cummins engine. I can't tell people how often they should change the little filters but most of them seem to think that every 2,500 miles is good. One guy took his Dodge diesel to the dealer for a valve adjust. They told him it was the cleanest engine with 150,000 miles on it that they had ever seen. It is very interesting the people that contact me. Even old USAF officers :)

The Amsoil part # is BP-89 - and Wayne Owen can fix you up with one if you don't have another source - I switched over to the same STANT #11111 oil fill cap he uses with that swivel fitting because it wouldn't fit properly to the stock one on the Cummins - the Stant works great, and is available at many auto parts stores.

The picture shows that he welded it to the battery hold down bar.

Gary, thanks for the numbers, I will see if I can find a local one. Man I love this site, and knowledge of it's members.

NO - the mount is not welded to the battery hold down - I used the piece of 3/8 inch stainless tubing I cut outta my fuel line to install my pusher pump (I *never* throw ANYTHING away!), and did THIS with it:

The battery hold down bolt passes thru the tubing, the frantz mount then attaches to that...

More pics in my readers rigs section - pointer is over there on the left under my name... ;)

Ok, my fault there. I only saw the second picture, and from that picture, it looks like it was welded on (where the screws are fuzzy in the photo).
