Marco - I'll give it a shot as well. I've been out of town the last few days. My problem is how to down load it. Might have to borrow the neighbors computer. I'm on a Mac and the d/l drivers aren't compatible. Give me a day and I'll give you an update.

Marco, if we're not having any issues with the old number 3, is there any advantage to downloading the new one????

Good question! From the performance point of view, I'd say no.

Yet, there's more to it. There's another point to consider. The new softwares from Chrysler!

Example, you have the "original" software in your Smarty. Now you need to pay a visit to your dealer. You take the software back to stock with Smarty and bring the truck in. All smooth and comfy.

Now the dealer decides that your truck should get the latest flash and updates your ECM. No problem other than... .

Once you get your truck back you want to update the ECM again with your Smart. You plug it in and the stupid dude now sez : "Unknown software"! WHAT? :-{}

Well, the original software was up to date when Smarty was released. Chrysler has since then has released new softwares... .

Now you NEED the new versions which of course uses the latest and greatest softwares from Chrysler.

Helps?

Marco

Lightman,

Your last MSG is a little    for me.

You said the ratttle was still there with the version #1 with the stock TQM and

then you say "Tried #2 same as stock workes ok".

Could you please elaborate further, I don't understand... :{

Thanks,

Marco

Marco,

I installed "Ver. 3. 03B, Data: 1. 02B Stock torque management" this morning and then the #2 Soft Catcher program with no timing. I put about 100 miles on it today - about 50 miles empty and about 50 miles towing a tractor.

First of all, the "Smarty Stock torque management" is not like a stock OEM torque management :D . It is very much stronger than the stock OEM program. In fact, the "Smarty Stock torque management" is a work of art and is very comparable to how the Van Aaken C3. 1 pressure box comes on - very smooth, yet strong low end without the touchy throttle.

That being said I do have some testing results in regards to the rattling.

-Empty or towing with the TST off, I get no rattling at all.

-Empty with TST on timing only I get a really mild rattle at about 22-23 psi boost and 1900-2000 rpm or so. With the original Smarty program the rattle was really bad in comparison.

-Towing with TST on timing only, the rattle was a lot worse (louder and metallic sounding) and it started at the same 22-23 psi boost pressure and 1900-2000 rpm or so. The rattle seemed to disappear in the mid-30 psi boost range.

So I ended up turning the TST off while towing. I didn't try the "Ver. 3. 03B, Data: 2. 02B Mild torque management increase" program with the TST because I figured that the rattling would be worse.

I think if you be so kind to do a bit more tuning on the "Smarty Stock torque management" program then the rattling would all, but disappear.

Thanks!

JS,

First of all, thanks for the testing and sharing your findings!!!

Has nothing to do with "kind"! LOL Customer Satisfaction FIRST! That's it.

I will surely "fine tune" these softwares more but first I need to understand what's the rattle you're referring to and what at causes it. I'll try to repeat your testing and listen to the engine at the boost/Rpm range you've told me.

Stay tuned...

It is very much stronger than the stock OEM program.

SURE it is! After all it's a tuned software for horsepower increase! Let's not confuse things! :-laf :-laf :D The HP gain IS there!

Thanks,

Marco

OK. I'm officially beyond frustrated. I've spent all afternoon (more like 2 hours) trying to get this to d/l. Borrowed a PC, followed the instruction and nothing. I don't have clue what I'm doing on a PC. I got the driver d/l (i think). Yet when I plug the Smarty in nothing comes up. Where's it suppose to show up? I d/l the software and figured out the unstuff part and I think I'm suppose to extract somewhere (i'm assuming the Smarty) yet I can't find the Smarty anywhere. I need some help here. Anybody have any thoughts besides giving up on the whole thing?

Don't give up

Drivern08. Go to the Madselectronics website to the download section there. Download the three zip files for the new software or just the one you want, then unzip it to afolder you can get to. It may help to download the SmartyUSB. exe file also. If you have the driver setup for the Smarty OK then click on the SmartyUSB. exe file. When the window comes up click open file at the top, browse to find the unzipped software file you downloaded, right mouse click and select it and send it to the Smarty. I hope this works for you, if not Call Bob Wagner at toll free 888-225-7637.

PS - I assumed you had the driver installed OK. If not print out the driver installation instructions on Madselectronics site and do that first. Once you get the driver loaded you can follow up above. Once you get through it the first time you'll be set for future downloads. I hope this helps. Bill

Thanks... ... . i'll pick one up so i can update my unit... ... . i played around with adding my EZ to the smarty programs this weekend... ... it's very strange..... the smarty was extremely touchy on the throttle on programs 5 and 7 without the EZ and lots of smoke... ... but would take off like a rocket... ... with the EZ the throttle is much smoother and much less smoke..... but it also feels like it counteracted most of the Tourque management from the smarty... ... truck has more top end and much less off the line power with the smarty on 5 and EZ on 1... ..... i really haven't decided which i like more

Smarty USB patch cord

CBradford --- The Smarty USB patch cord is the same as the one my USB printer uses. I went and bought another one before I looked. My Hp 7100 printer uses the same type cord. It has the standard USB terminal on one end and the Smarty and the HP printer connection is identical. Just thought y'all would like to know before you go and buy one like I did. :D Bill
