I'll give that SW a VERY close look but I doubt it's anything as simple as a stupid error.

I'll come back.

Me to. Gotta take off for a few hours. Thanks again for the hard work on this.

I am wondering that in order to get the same amount of fuel with bigger injectors as compared to stock injectors that the bigger injector stays open less (i. e. , less duration). This would essentially be the same as advancing the injection timing wouldn't it? So hence we get the timing rattle a lot easier than say a truck with smaller injectors?

Not to butt in on the SMARTY talk, but yes, the bigger, higher flowing injectors will effectively advance the timing of motor somewhat due to a larger quantity of fuel being injected more quickly once the injector fires. On the CR injectors I would say the amount of advancement would be pretty small, but still happens nontheless. It shouldn't be pinging any more on the 'no timing' programs vs. stock, though.

Imills,

see we like things to be as perfect as possible.

Since the version . A had problems yesterday, we have renamed the files to . B just in case one never knows... ( Dunno what for but the computer freak in me tells me to do so... :-laf :-laf :-laf ) In this moment the files . B are being uploaded to the web site. That's the 4th or 5th time today, dunno have lost the count.

Anyway, gimme five minutes to finish the upload, then you can have fun too.

Thanks,

Marco

That's exactly what happens to me only it rattles like that with all of the Smarty programs. Even the ones that have stock timing. Even with the TST on 0/0. Somethings not right. I've asked Marco and Bob directly on multiple web-sites about my timing issue and they've been ignored. A new down load for tq managemnt doesn't do me any good. I wanna hear from the maker why it's not working on my SO. Marco... Bob... . any ideas. ?????????

Exact same thing with my 03 250HP SO as well. See my post here: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6916&page=4

Nother Ice cold beer for ol Marco? Oo.

Well deserved!

Just wanted to say that even though I couldnt be happier with the way my truck runs, its great that you are keeping up trying to make things as perfect as possible for everyone else. Keep up the great work Marco!

Thanks Mattymac,

FYI, with the beer thing I was having a little fun. In the real world I don't drink much at all. A beer along with a Pizza every once in a while, that's it.

Yesterday, I've spent the rest of the evening tinkering with the 03-04 softwares. I hoped to find some plain simple stupid error. NOT... .

Hmmmmm... ... .

Maybe I'm completly off road but I'm lead to believe that this timing rattle is caused in some way by the modified torque management. Why? I don't know... yet

To find out what's going on,I need your help guys!

A simple test would be to download the update version #1 ( the one with the Stock TQM ) to Smarty and then download it to the truck. Rattle gone? Yes, No? It's a starting point, then we'll see how to proceed from there.

Any takers?

Thanks!

Marco

AK RAM,

I've read your MSG. That gear selector light thing sounds weird! :D

We'll work on that too but please on thing at a time. First let's get rid of that timing rattle!

One question for you guys. By any chance, has the APPS ( throttle position sensor ) been changed or adjusted on your trucks?

I am going to throw out a speculation could your modified torque management be causing the pilot injection to be to short there for causing a diesel raddle, only a thought but something to think about.

In this moment any speculation is as good as any other but it is just that, a speculation.

For now, I'd like to hear back from one of the guys withe the rattle what happens with update #1 loaded.

We'll see...

I'll try it this Friday when I get on days off again!

I loaded Ver #1 and it got rid of the rattle, not as much fun to drive but ok

#2 now!

GOOOOOOD news! We have a path to follow now!

Thanks!

Since you are at it, could you please give also software # 2 a try?

A little less TQM than original... .

To tell you the truth, in # 3 quiet a few things have changed...

Maybe it works too now.

Marco, if we're not having any issues with the old number 3, is there any advantage to downloading the new one????
