Evening all,

For those of you that have, or know someone that has the Cargo Camera Third Brake Light, does it leak?

My current standard 3rd brake light leaks, but I don’t recall anyone ever posting that they’re cargo camera 3rd brake light was leaking, so figured I’d ask here.

I’m searching for a new (or used) truck and one of the options I haven’t typically cared if a particular truck did or did not have was the Cargo Camera that replaces the third brake light. If there’s no history of the cameras leaking I may look for a truck with that option.

Thank you.

Unfortunately It's a common issue either way. If you haven't already done so, you need something like this to seal it up.

I just went out to look at the specific brand I used on my 14 a few years ago but I must of used it on something else. I do remember it being a very small tube, 1 or 2 oz. It was either 3M or Permatex brand. Remove the gasket behind the brake light and lightly coat both sides of the gasket and you'll be good to go. Have a clean rag handy for the inevitable squeeze out when you run the screws in.

Bummer, thank you for your input though.

I know it’s a simple fix that I admittedly have dragged my feet fixing, drives me nuts that Ram couldn’t have made it right from the beginning.

As frustrating as the leak is, I deliver to a Ford dealer and watched a new Super Duty have LOTS of water flowing out of the rear door, like maybe a gallon or more. I didn’t feel so bad about my leaking brake light anymore.

The gasket on my third brake light was replaced by the dealer before the 3yr/36k bumper to bumper warranty expired.

Now at 7+ years on my 2013, I had to replace the gasket again. Apparently, the gaskets are only good for 3-4 years?

The screws on the third brake light were very loose. Could turn them even without pressure. I don't know if the screws loosened on their own or if the dealer just didn't bother tightening them 4+ years ago.
