Just curious if anyone else on this forum has NOT bombed their engines. I now have almost 50,000. miles on my 01 and it's bone stock. I put larger tires on and the standard exterior stuff like steps, bed liner, tinted windows, etc. I don't pull huge loads so I really don't need any more power. By the way, all of the sudden I'm getting a lot better mileage now, almost 20 mpg. I've always babied this truck and wonder if it's just getting broke in??

More power would sure be FUN, but I think I'll just stick with stock for now, don't like to compromise reliability. My wife sure wishes I felt like this about my snowmobile, just can't leave that thing alone.

9 BONE STOCK

YEP MINE IS STOCK TO. WARRANTY RUNS OUT IN FEB. ???

DONE KNOW WHAT TO BOMB, W/O DOING TRANS WORK TO

I PULL 10K 5TH WHEEL.

1999 QUAD CAB 2500Oo.

Mine is totally stock- right down to the replacement tires! the only thing that I have done is a self installed bed liner and camper shell. I am even on the original lift pump! I do not see my self doing anything for quite some time to it. I am very satisfied with its performance (about 17. 5 mpg here at 9,000 feet. ) I have just over 37K miles on it.

Yes, I have a 2000 extended cab, short bed, Cummins Diesel Dodge Pickup and aside from the side steps so the wife can get in and a tool box in the bed it's totally stock. I am getting good service out of it and great milage when towing my 4X4's to the trails. So, I haven't touched it. I did install a CB, cell phone and laptop computer stand in it if that makes any difference.

Actually I've been too busy Hot Rodding my Motorhome to mess with the pickup. :D

It was a Ford 460 powered gas guzzeling behemoth that I gutted the drivetrain and repowered it. Arg, Arg, Arg.

It now has a 260 horse 5. 9 L TD with an Allison AT 542 behind it. Only days from having it running. Waiting for parts. IT should go from 5 mpg to about 15 mpg. :) And later this year I will be installing a passive propane injection system and see if I can't hit 20 mpg or better.

I was hoping to have it all sorted out by now so the School Teacher I married and I could be crossing the country on Vacation. Oh Well, I plod along.

We have 2

I have a 2001 HO and my wifes 1998 1/2 and they both have 200K on them. Only the stock exhaust manifold has been changed with the 3 piece from ATS when the stock ones craked.

stock

Totally stock 43k miles just use a K &N- I find the power to be enough as I do not tow and the truck has been stone reliable. The only mod I did do- the BHAF- almost cost me an engine when I didn't install it right so on the strong urging of the Cummins techs who found the problem I have left the engine alone. Time will tell.

Mine is totally stock. Just too many other places the money has to go. When I have the money to upgrade the transmission and get the gauges, that's when I'll do a little bombing. Getting ready to go to Lake Mead. See Ya!!!!!!!!!!

I was totally stock for the first 12K miles, except for boost & EGT gauges.

At 12K miles, this veddy, veddy bad man named HVAC opened up the hood of my poor, defenseless truck and force fed him some DD3's, a K&N filter, an EZ and it all went to heck in a handbasket after that..... :D

I don't tow or haul much either, and so I don't *need* those 439 horses..... but there isn't anything else on earth quite like the feeling I get when I abuse... er, I mean smash to go faster pedal to the firewall and scream away from any other car in the vicinity. :D:D:D

Warning - if you ever do BOMB your truck, or ride in one that is BOMBed, or especially get to drive a BOMBed truck... well, life ain't gonna be the same for you after that. 'nuff said.

Other than the silencer ring falling out and "rust" developing in the air box creating numerous holes, mine is as stock as they come. 85000 miles and running just fine.

Well Kinda Stock....

It was stock with the exception of the A-Pillar until the transmission died @ 108k... . I then had a DTT installed & I feel myself starting to slide down that slippery slope all of a sudden!

With my DTT installed I can now "grab" 2nd gear & it's really got me thinking about what DDII's & an EZ will do...

Waiting to see what Santa may bring! :D

Mine is still stock. My '01 auto has 64,000 miles on it. I have run Shell Rotella and Fleetguard Filters all around. I have been extremely pleased with it's performance. I can't justify jeopordizing the engine warranty to gain HP. Even towing 10k I am happy with it's performance. Like others have said there are others ways to spend the money.

Next Bomb is the electric tow mirror swap. Just waiting for the '01 mirrors to arrive from back order.

No Longer, wish I had done it sooner

Just put in 275hp injectors.

It has to be the best per dollar hopup you could do.

Before dyno 171 after 224.

Mileage 1st yr was 19. 5/ 20. 5mpg.

dropped to a low of 13, usually stayed around 17. 2.

After injectors 19. 5/22. 5mpg, pretty sure I had a bad injector/s.

Thats a 50hp and 3/4 mpg improvement.

At less than $300 installed.

Am I going to continue prefecting my truck, probably.

Looking for an EZ or maybe a Comp.

Stock Cummins

With just 11K miles, the silencer ring "ran away" and I put in an KN filter with gauges. I have a hitch plug (Dodge logo), steps, and bug shield. My plans are for 275 injectors and EZ box for the engine, lose the muffler, add front grill, spray-in bed liner, tint windows, and shocks (Bilsteins).
