Well, I guess my new one is stock.

OK, I've removed the silencer ring, the "X" in the intake, and cut off the air dam.

That still count?

My sons truck (91 W350) is totally stock except for the stacks. Dynoed at 131 rwhp. Just turned 130,000 mi today. 22MPG. Wish my 99 would get atleast 18.

Except for what is in the signature below, bone stock. Gonna stay that way for a good while. I get between 21 - 23 mpg and pull everything I need and wanted to pull. I hook up the Briar Hopper fuel pressure gauge every oil change to check the lift pump health and feed her John Deere 15W-40 Plus 50 and stratapore filters.

Engine totally stock, can't see voiding the 5yr. 100,000 warranty on the engine. I do have a 4" turbo back custom exhaust and Amsoil air filter.

Getting better fuel mileage all the time, up to almost 20mpg average for all driving except towing.

Next year when the 5yr. is up the BOMBING will start.

Just about stock;

The exhaust was modified to outlet just forward of the R R wheel by the former owner to allow him room for the air suspension, etc. He carried a large camper in the box. The only Mod I did was the 2 stage filter as you can see in the profile. Truck runs slick... will have the KDP fixed in the next day or two, just received the jig kit !!

7 years 100,000 warranty and it is fast enough to tow the Vette I road race. I use it for my masonry business and tow a 10,000 GW trailer. Brakes were gone in 22,000 frt & 28,000 rear. What bomb can you sneak in?:D

... Warning - if you ever do BOMB your truck, or ride in one that is BOMBed, or especially get to drive a BOMBed truck... well, life ain't gonna be the same for you after that. 'nuff said.

Yup. He's a bad, BAD man. HVAC, you better not ever let my wife meet you. :D (Of course, I've done my fair share of perverting. :D)

Stock, based on my average annual driving I should get 5 years of warranty coverage. I paid for that warranty in the price of the truck and I'm not letting DC off the hook by voiding the warranty. Plus stock power is good enough for me.

Got my first one in 91>95>98>00>03 so far over than changing the air filter they and muffler on 95 they have all been stock. This one I went with the AFE drop in filter and changed out the air baffle they have on the line. Silencer ring out of all em:D

My 2000 4x4 extended cab is stock at 80K miles. It does have exterior things such as bed liner, steps, etc ... I pull a 10K 5th wheel with it. Just got back from Wyo. Its an automatic, and honestly I didn't feel like I had the power I needed, especially in the hills. I'm contemplating adding a performance pipe and maybe chipping it. I need to learn some more about these options, guess this is a good way to do it. I bought it at 43K, so I imagine it has everything original, except the brake pads--they seem way in too good of shape. Unfortunately, I have ridden in a bombed truck! Anybody got some advice on a good place to start? (please put your answers in "novice CTD english"--thanks!)

Ben, since you're running an auto, I would upgrade that transmission first. You may find more power getting to the ground just by doing that. The best transmission upgrade has been beaten to death on here, so if you search you'll find more than you want to read.

If the transmission upgrade isn't enough, go with an Edge EZ or Comp and freer flowing air filter (for EGT's) then add injectors if you *still* need power.

Oh, and don't forget the obligatory gauges: Fuel Pressure, transmission Temp, Pyro, and Boost.

Have fun!!

Bone Stock

Did add a bug deflector to the hood and tonou cover on the bed. I think the bed cover up'ed the mileage a little as I'm getting a consistent 20+ mpg day to day driving. I made a trip to Seattle and back (Boise Id. ) last month and got 24. 33 mpg. That was with the cruise control set at 65 mph all the way.

Towing a 24' Airstream the truck gets about 14+ mpg. Overall

I would have to say this is the best pick-up that I've ever owned.

Only 28,000 miles on the rig and I'm fussy about oil changes and stuff (nobody's touching this truck but me... if I can help it), but I really expect to get over 500,000 miles out of it.

We're moving up to a 35' travel trailer in the next few weeks.

This will put me near the max for towing weight and total GVWR but I believe the mighty Cummins won't even be breathing heavy.

I think everyone knows we have waaaaaay more engine than truck.

The engine has had a steady diet of Delo 15w40. I'm thinking of switching to a synthetic or blend once the new trailer is purchased. NV 5600 transmission fluid has been replaced once. I hope nobody really believes DC claim of a lifetime transmission fluid. Something like that would be in the space shuttle. . not our pick-up.

I think I'll change mine every 25 to 30 thousand when towing. The Pennzoil syncromesh replacement fluid was available and fairly inexpensive. I noticed a slight improvement after changing the fluid at about 18,000 miles.

After the warranty runs out I might install the 275 injectors and maybe chip it up just a little. The stock HP/Torq is OK for now but once the valve cover comes off for a valve adjustment... well. .

we'll see.

Stock for now!!!!!!

I have a problem,

To you guys that have kept your trucks stock,my hat is of to you. Please help me,I was wondering if there is a 12 step program to help me. I spend every spare bit of cash I have. I work on this project when I should be at work. I'm addicted to the adenaline rush of the speed power and the smell of diesel smoke. I live in constant fear of the weak link in the chain grenading, will it be the headgasket,or the output shaft, will I tear out the flexplate, will I leave my driveshaft on the asphalt. Please help me. It has to be the best per dollar hopup you could do.

Before dyno 171 after 224.

Mileage 1st yr was 19. 5/ 20. 5mpg.

dropped to a low of 13, usually stayed around 17. 2.

After injectors 19. 5/22. 5mpg, pretty sure I had a bad injector/s.

Thats a 50hp and 3/4 mpg improvement.

At less than $300 installed.

Am I going to continue prefecting my truck, probably.

Looking for an EZ or maybe a Comp.

I was at TIM and a vendor put in a box. I t just did not feel ''right'' --not smooth power like stock. He said it was on most aggressive setting. I figured that what he would do was turn it down a little to smooth things out. Right away I thought 275's would be the equivalent.

How do you feel about the pull on the power curve? Is it nice and smooth like the stock truck? I know it is hard to describe how something feels, but I would appreciate any input as 275's are money spent and no turning back.

Merv, there is a solution, trade your CTD in on a new 6. 0 Ford. Then the truck will be at the dealers all of the time being repaired and you won't have it around to mess with. ;)

Stock, except for egt and trans temp guages, could always use more power but thats an endless trap. Love the truck the way it is 20 plus solo, 12 to 14 towing (14000 combined weight).
