recently had a pack of feral dogs move into the rural community that i live in ...



a little while ago about four of them chased my 6 year old son on his atv in our hill meadow ...



words cannot describe the rage ...



so i traded off my . 454 casul for a Bushmaster Varminter ... 24 inch stainless bull bbl, two stage trigger ... etc



did a quick, across the hood, site job with some cheap Q3131 ammo ...



two of the four dogs are no longer with us :-laf



today i got some Hornady Match 75 gr BTHP and headed to the range



now keep in mind i've never owned a military style rife ... always considered the ar to be "plastic junk"



boy was i amazed with the results ...



3 shot group at 100 yards were all touching!

3 shot group at 200 yards i could cover with a quarter!!!!



now this was a 30 degree day and all i had on was a pullover sweatshirt!!



gonna try again on a warm day, i know i can tighten up that 200 yard group ...



i am impressed with my new "plastic" gun ...



i just hope that i see those other two dogs before my nieghbors do

When I bought my first "varmint" AR they were just starting to get popular. My buddy had it built form scratch and then sold it to me when he got bored with it. When I told the guy at the gunshop about it he laughed until I showed him the five shot group that looked like a clover leaf.



My next rifle is going to be a AR in . 308, just can't decide on the manufacturer. Probably DPMS but I'm looking at Rock River also

Yep, gotta love the AR platform. People only talk trash about them until they try them. I have a couple in different configurations. I love the versatility. You can go fram a 16" carbine barrel to a 24" varminter with the push of a couple pins. I have a "varminter" that weighs in at 12 lbs. It has a 24" schilen barrel with 1in 9" twist, jewel 2 stage trigger, hard chromed bolt/bolt carrier, lightened hammer/ titanium firing pin, weighted stock and all the other goodies. It rocks off the bench. Due to the weight, it doesnt move off target. I just see a vibration in the scope, so I can spot most of my own shots. Works great when targeting more than 1 vamint in close proximity. I bet my brother i could put 10 rounds in a hole the size of a quarter in 10 seconds at 100 yds off the bench. Well, i did it in 8 seconds, but he still won, cause i couldn't quite cover the group with a quarter. (about half a hole showing) :-laf



PS. I have had really good luck with the 55gr nosler balistic tips for varmint hunting. (Im sure they would work great on wild dogs also). If you reload, give them a shot along with 2015 powder. I am getting 3350 fps on the crono along with excellent accuracy with that combo. There are some really good books out there on the AR style weapons if you are interested. One of my favorites is call "Black Magic" good info in there. I wanted to build a 308 based AR, but didn't do it before the Ban, so im SOL Stupid comiefornia. i think a 6mm would be sweet also.

The AR in . 20 Tactical is a nice combo also. 22-250 ballistics, it is like a light switch on Coyotes. It turns them off instantly. Too bad you're down in So Cal Rubberneck. You could bring it up here and put some rounds through it with a suppressor.

Actually, i am in central Ca. Ripon to be exact. That sounds like fun. . 20 tactical sounds interesting. I need to do some research. I haven't kept up on anything for the past few years. Been too busy building the new house and playing with these trucks. I am assuming that is a wildcat?? what is it based on. can i build one off of a standard ar-15 lower? I have a couple of receivers i registered before all the ban crap. man i wish i would have bought some ar-10 lowers.

Windham, ME (December 8th, 2005) - Richard Dyke, Chairman and principal stockholder of Bushmaster Firearms, is pleased with a December 6 decision of the United States District Court in Maine granting summary judgment for Bushmaster in a trademark case brought by Colt Defense, LLC. In the case, Colt accused Bushmaster of infringing the “M4” trademark and the trade dress of the M4, both of which Colt claimed it owned to the exclusion of others in the industry. In addition to denying Colt’s infringement claims, the Court granted judgment for Bushmaster on its claim for cancellation of Colt’s federal trademark registration for the “M4”.



Dyke said he is pleased, not only for Bushmaster, but for the entire firearms industry. “Colt has for years made all sorts of claims as to rights it asserted belonged only to it,” he said. “And this case clearly shows Colt has been overstating its rights. In this case, the Court determined that the right to use the M4 term and to sell firearms that look like the M4 type, are rights that belong to the industry, not just Colt. ”



The Court’s order affirmed a prior recommended decision of a U. S. Magistrate Judge in the case. Among other things, the Magistrate’s decision:



Held that the M4 is a generic term which merely describes a type of firearm, and is not an identifier of Colt as a sole source for such firearms. In doing so, the decision noted that more than a dozen firearm manufacturers other than Colt have used the term M4 for years to refer to military-style carbines with collapsible buttstocks and shortened barrels. Since the M4 term is generic, the court granted judgment for Bushmaster that Colt’s federal trademark registration for the M4 should be cancelled.



Dismissed Colt’s claim for infringement of M4 trade dress both because the alleged trade dress is primarily non-functional and because Colt could not establish that the buying public associated the look of the M4 only with Colt.



Dismissed Colt’s claims for infringement of the terms M16, CAR, MATCH TARGET, AR-15 and COMMANDO because it concluded that there was no likelihood of confusion among purchasers as to the source of Bushmaster’s products.



The Court also held Colt could recover no damages on its only remaining claim under Section 43(a) of the Lanham Act.

. 20 Tactical is a . 223 necked down to . 20 with a slight bit of body blowout. I played with it a couple years ago. 33 grain bullet up to 4400fps. Best loaded around 4200. They came out with a 40 grain bullet for it that is supposed to work very well. Ground squirrels are dry dog food sized pieces when properly processed. Real easy to load. 223 cases into the die. 20 tactical comes out. slight body taper change when fired. alot better performance than a 17 Rem.

6. 8 SPC is said to be about 80% of the "power" of the 308.

Pretty effective for a cartrige in the AR platform.

The 6. 8 Grendel is supposed to be a better long range ctg. It's said to stay sonic out to 1000 Yds +.

I've made a few pieces for the 6. 8, but i have never shot one. I make the muzzle brakes and suppressors for the SPR model that uses the Ops Inc suppressor. Mostly in . 223, but there have been a few in 6. 8. The military doesn't seem to be planning on using it, but the civilian market is still active. I have heard good things about it.

Only if your state or local laws make them that way. It takes a 4 to 6 month investigation from the FBI, local CLEO approval and 200 dollar tax stamp.

Bushmaster

Makes the best ones. My Bushmaster AR 15 has the bull barrel and titanium firing pin. Most fun gun to shoot, and best performance with 53 grain bullets. Mine also has a Millett 6-24 scope, and talk about tack driving!

Bushmaster was forced to pay a big fine for producing the gun that the DC sniper used. Gee, is that justice? Only in America is the gun at fault.
