Here I am

Are 12 valves really bringing this king of money or is the dealer off their rocker?

I love Dodges and the 12 valve is definitely my favorite among diesel engines...........but this is ridiculous. I don't now much about this truck other than it's a local so no rust...Its a 5 speed and has peeling paint. I just can't see if fetching that kind of money!

How many miles on it? High book value for low miles?

Its over 100k miles and has a 5 speed but don't know much other than that. I know it was used to haul a big boat back and forth to Valdez..........but with paint peeling and knowing how these trucks are.......I just don't see it selling for much over 12-13k.

I looked at KBB with every option and only 2500 miles the max value was only like $13000. But I guess they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Seems high to me.

For that kind of money, I'd gladly part with my 12 valve. The issue for those in the know (which is most TDR members) is that with the mechanical simplicity, ease of repair, and low operating costs compared to the new ones, the 12 valve value goes up. But in terms of comfort and convenience, I prefer driving my '16 Ram over the '95.

Nice looking truck and all but no way is it worth that kind of money = MHO. But then, there’s an arse for every seat...

Option #2 then as a valve adjustment alone isn't gonna fix off the rocker.

12 valves were up there in price especially with the 5 spd, 215 hp/ 440 tq. They mite of simmered down a little because of the new ones horses/ torque and with get the mileage went up since the 2007s.
Back in the middle 2000's when Mule looked good ( needs to be painted again) I had least 4 to 5 man begging me to sell it to them. One was from a used truck dealer ( good rep).

This subject comes up all of the time. Whether it is 1st gens, 12-valves, or 3rd gen 5.9's, there is a certain attraction for the older trucks due to the perceived simplicity that they offer over what is out there new. The addition of the complex emission systems and electronic controls with each passing year only drives this desire.

Are any of the old trucks really worth what these owners/dealers are asking? Only the buyer can determine that. However, there must be someone who buys these things or the market wouldn't keep supporting it.

I live in NC. There is a constant stream of diesel trucks being moved halfway across the country to here from Texas. All makes and models. So much of a price difference, when I was looking for a "newer" truck. I considered flying out there and driving one home. Diesel trucks here are bringing a premium price.

The bad weather is still fresh in my mind, watch for flood vehicles.
