Hey guys how is everything in dieselland? Well i first want to tell everyone how great the guys at Scheid Diesel are (the Effingham shop and the Lafayette shop). Now let me do some informing of the experience I had with the afore mentioned B&D and Consolidated Freight. On December 16 I took my 93 1 ton Dodge to scheid's in Lafayette, In to have it checked out for a problem with the torque converter, the guys checked it out and said that yes it had failed and asked if i wanted them to fix it, i told them to order it(B&D converter) and I would bring the truck back on the 21st to have it fixed. When I took the truck back the guys called and said the pan had metal shavings in it and it needed replaced. i told the guys to go ahead and order the transmission, they ordered it(from B&D also). B&D told scheid's the transmission would be here in 5 days( it was shiped on the 23rd that would have put it here on the 30th even with christmas eve being a Friday). I called B&D on the 30th and they gave me the run around and told me to call Consolidated. Consolidated then told me to call their sister company that they were the ones that shipped it and gave me their number so I called the sister company. The sister company told me it would be in Chicago on Saturday. They gave me the Consolidated Freightways # in Lafayette, In and told me to call them to find out when they were expecting it. Lafayette told me it would be in on Tuesday. So as of next tuesday i will be without my beloved diesel for 2 weeks and have had to rent a car to get around for the week at a cost of $325. 00( which i believe that one of these companies should pay for). I just want everyone to know the kind of business that B&D and Consolidated Freightways do and to show everyone that those 2 companies care only about the dollars they make not the customers they serve.

I don't mean to be rude, but why did you not wait to have the thing torn down until you got the new trans. If it would still run drive it till you get the new trans. It is not BD or the shipping companies fault your truck broke down. Take a moment and calm down and think about this. O. K. so now we are all pissed at B&D and consolidated. Is this going to get the parts to you any quicker??NO!! Ease up and enjoy raising hell on the rental.

With posts in three forums you would expect something really interesting. NOT THIS!

While one tries to find someone to throw arrows at when things are out of our control... . your dates happened to be over the busiest shipping time of the year and a major holiday.

BWT, you could have been waiting for a replacement NVG4500 that are on nationwide backorder by several dozen. I just got mine back a day short of 3 weeks. The longer the wait the more you like it when you get it back.

hey you know what it wasn't my decision to take it apart, but it also isn't my fault that B&D and Consolidated can't get the parts to their customers when they say they will be there.

Well, I have personally dealt with BD on some issues in the past. I would suggest that you try discussing your concerns with Piers Henry at BD personally before going on the written attack. I have had good results with Piers and can vouch for his character. As for compensation for the rental, I just don't understand that one! As for the arrival date, if BD shipped when they said the would, then they did all they could do. I would suggest next time you need expedited shipping, order the item personally yourself and cut out as many middle people as possible. That way when things go south, your speaking from personal dealings not third party " I said this" "They said that" information. Last but not least people just some times make mistakes!!!!

I think you picked the wrong time to have this work done, sounds like it went out BD's door on time.

Just be glad you didn't order it from TOY's R US

I agree with Big Don on this one. As for "hey you know what it wasn't my decision to take it apart" who's was it anyway? It's always the owner's decision on who does what to his vehicle. It seems to me that BD did their part in shipping it and it got delayed in the Xmas rush. How can that be BD's fault? Somebody must have been living in a cave for years not to know that shipping gets delayed during December. Bashing BD on the Internet in this situation is definitly NOT called for.

Another thing to consider FGD, is that the transmission is coming out of Canada. There are a whole bunch of different reasons that is could have been held up, customs- the main one, interlined with another carrier, caught up in the Holiday shipping. When anything coming truck freight there is only one consistency, ITS NEVER CONSISSTENT!!!. If you want the transmission that bad on time have it shipped by airline or something, but I would bet it's not BD's fault or Consolidated's.
Plus, it's the Holidays, everyone's only human, it'll get there.

If I read this right, BD got it out their door and on the truck on time. So--are they susposed to escort it all the way on the truck or what? Like Grandpa said,"It takes all kinds to make the world go round. " If I want something "overnight" I order it that way and expect to pay the freight, otherwise, I sit and wait and wait and wait and... .....

first gen. dually,
I had a similar experience not too long ago. The guy told me something would be here in 4 days. I told him no way, he says trust me. He was wrong (it took over a week) and I was pissed.
They made a mistake in telling you it would be there in 5 days when shipped on the 23rd. You (like me) wanted to believe them, all the while knowing it was damn near impossible. You're pissed... ... .
Some how we get thru these things... . Just hope it comes on Tuesday and everything gets right!
Good Luck,
Ron
