Ok, this is for a friend..... this is what he has... . 1993 d360 ctd getrag, 186k miles, and he has had the truck for about a year. When he got the truck it had a slight old consumption problem, about 1 qt per 2k miles, didn't really leak out, and truck ran fine, except that it smoked a little, some gray/black mix.
So, now roll the clock foward about a year, and about 10k miles, a reman turbo and it is now smoking BAD! It is smoking gray/black out the exhaust more than ever, and the blow-by tube has a constant hi-pressure gray smoke comming out of it, and it is EXCESSIVE, and gets worse with rpm. The truck seems a bit lumpy now at idle, but seems to smooth out at above 1200rpm. anyhow, it is using about a gallon of oil every 500 miles. I was kinda thinking that it might be a hole in a piston, but I am not sure. He was thinking a blown head gasket. No water in oil/oil in water. any ideas guys????
