2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Batteries

I did a search but couldn't find what i wanted.

My batteries are still the originals. I guess that i should replace them soon.

Any comments on Costco, WalMart, Auto Zone, Kragen or others?

I went to walmart and installed the Max 27N They were listed in there book fort he second Gens up to 01 and fit in the battery Tray. The one they have listed for the 02 and up is wrong data is for the third Gen. They were about 70 ea.

Costco batteries.

I met a Ford owner at Costco buying two batteries for his F-250(pre Super Duty) He said he gets two years out of them and brings them back for free replacement. Personally,I've had great luck with Costco RV batteries.

Unless you're having issues with them, why bother? My originals will be 8 years old in May and still going strong. I know I'm probably the exception rather than the rule, but I wouldn't spend the money if there is no need. While most aftermarket parts are way better than factory ones, I've had such good luck with the OEM batts, I'll probably get the same ones when the time comes.

Someday, I would like to once again live in a place where a regular lead-acid battery lasts more than 18 to 24 months. 19 months has been average for me here in the land of the furnace, until I changed to Optima. I get circa 5 years now.



8 years on an OEM? All I can say is 'good on ya!'Oo.

Livin' on Borrowed Time

My Truck Arrived on Nov. '00. Still on originals. I know they are going to let me down when I am alone and far from anywhere. There will be new ones B4 Fall.



Which ones will it be?

I've read that there are only three or four US battery manufacturers now who make all the batteries sold. The batteries are packaged differently for different retailers. I've bought mine for several years from SAM's Club.

I love the AC Delco's I have in my truck... . they have been there for 4 years now and I haven't had one problem with them.

My original batteries went seven years and were still working when I changed them out. The only reason I changed them was because the little green eye on one of the batteries was almost black, figured it was time. I went with Sears Diehard Platinums, made by Enersys, same company that makes the Odysseys.

Optima red tops for 7 years and still going strong the originals died after about 2 years.

OEM batteries just keep going and going and.....

I'm running the original batteries as well. 150K miles and 8yrs in some tough arctic conditions where many batteries fail. I plan to run them till they're gone. I use trickle chargers and maintainers (desulphators). I'm also having good luck with optima's (purchased at Costco) on a plow truck (hard on batteries). In many cases, I think you get what you pay for.

I'm still on the original batteries on my 05 Dodge, but even more amazing, I'm still on the original battery on my 03 Toyota Avalon, which I purchase in Jul 02. I carry a booster battery in the trunk of the car, which I recharge every 6 months, just in case it goes on me.



I've also had great luck with Costco batteries in the past.

Right now I am running a single sears battery (the $180 one) boy can that sucker crank even at 5 degrees

I have had good luck with wal mart batteries as well. Plus, and it's a BIG PLUS, I have had the least hassle when warranting batteries through them.

speaking of batteries... ... any of you ever heard of NOT charging a battery on the ground or concrete due to it wearing it out faster, or anything along those lines. Ihave never heard of this before, but I am no expert.

I have and also dont leave a lead/acid battery on the ground period its been said it drains them.

I've heard of not storing batteries on a concrete floors, however that is true anymore due to improved battery cases.
