2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission best 24v year

Not worried, just want to know; if I ever get a spare motor as a back-up I would like to get the best of what was offered.



I am more worried about Global warming than having a BUM engine block. Just want as much knowledge as I can get on my toy's;that's why I joined the TDR. Thomas

There is nothing wrong with the blocks on your trucks, you have a better chance of winning the LOTTO then having a problem with the block on your truck even if it has a "53" on it. If you want to worry about something try "Global Warming"

do you think dodge is the only user of the 5. 9? and i thought i heard the new motor has the same short block. in a town of 35k my dealer has seen 3 53 blocks with cracks at about 105k. these were all 99's. piers told me what the difference with the storm block was but i honestly don't remember. i think it has stronger girddles?

Is the "storm" block that you are talkin' about a #54 block ? The reason that I asked is beacause the replacement engine in my 96' is a #54
