Hello all!
I am looking for the best headlight option for my 98 12v. I don’t like the stock look but want good quality. I bought some cheap eBay ones that fell apart in just a few months. I have a really brite set of leds and am surprised how dim they are in these eBay housings. What do you guys like?

I don't know if there is any best headlights for 2nd gens. I have been using the DEPO brand, but they are not OEM quality.

The issue with putting LED bulbs in any housing not designed for LED is strange beam patterns blinding other drivers and while bright as heck, the light isn't focused correctly. If you are going to put a LED bulb inz try to find a very high quality vendor that sells bulbs that try hard to mimic a halogen bulb pattern. I did that, paid $400 for a set of four bulbs and they are OK, not great in the Depo. I had to adjust the heck out if them to get a decent high beam pattern and then suffer with a pretty pathetic low beam pattern.

AFAIK, no one has designed a real LED reflector bulb combo for the 2nd gens let alone a high quality one. Trucks are now old enough there probably isn't a viable commercial market either.

There isn’t a decent quality light out there if the oem aren’t fogged over so bad you can’t tell if they are on or off you better hang on to them because that’s better than anything you can buy

Nonsense! None of the aftermarket headlights are OEM quality, but they are better than a fogged stocker! Sport headlight conversion for the win!
The aftermarket ones break in less than 6 months and the lenses flop around in a broken housing and you can’t see anyway . You can’t get the aftermarket ones to adjust right . I’m on my 5 or 6th set of aftermarket junk don’t even waste the time or money on them

My Dorman's are more than 6 months old and they aren't flopping. I was able to aim them perfectly with no issues. They're still not leaking as some have commented.

Go figure....

My replacement lights from Genos have worked flawlessly for over 5 years. They adjust perfectly. All aftermarket lights are not created equally.

I have been very pleased with the Depo's I got from Geno's over 10 years ago! I covered them with the Xpel headlight protector kit and they have not yellowed one bit! I know others have different opinions, but if I needed to I would do it again!

Well every single set I’ve bought has broken . I finally gave up and just wired in some tractor lights to come on with the fog lights I’m sick of throwing money away on junk that doesn’t last . Every Aftermarket set i have ever bought will not adjust right they all have a triangle in the center of the truck that is dark that you cannot adjust . I’m glad you’re pleased with your junk but I’m not

I guess that’s just proof of “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.”
Both trucks are broke again and flopping around so I need to do something. I guess I’ll order from genos because I like them and they usually have good quality unfortunately there lights are not one of them

What brands have you used?

Bought the depot brand mostly . Tried eagle eyes and several other brands everything the housing breaks and you have a free floating headlight assembly which is pretty neat when you are on the road at night 99 percent of the time . Finally just got sick of it and put some small led tractor lights on so I could see a little bit anyway
