Yeah, you're thinking is right on the PVC being ID dimensions. The Nanofiber filter measurements are dead on, 4", 4. 5", or 6" inside diameter. The flange is soft rubber so it will deal with being a little off and still seal up well. There is one filter with a 4. 125" flange, but it really isn't that large. If you can get some PVC fitting to work, like a coupling that is make to fit inside a 6" ID pipe, so the coupling would be necked down to 6. 0 inches OD, it would work. A little backyard ingenuity sure beats spending 250+ bucks on a commercial system in my opinon.
