Anyone know what the regular application is for the Lucas POD injectors was??? There are several shops here in Houston that rebuild injectors and I am sure that could find a set.

I'd drill them about how well they match and balance them as a set. AS you get into higher flow rates, any difference in flow rate will make you engine run rough, smoke, suck fuel, etc. THey are a smoky injector in our trucks to begin with, so imbalance wouldnt help. There is a Bosch shop here I am not real impressed with, but this is gasser country, so it is a miracle when a diesel starts and runs, much less starts and OUTruns their 350s. :D IT all comes under the heading you get what you pay for. Less money upfront may cost more in the end.

Thanks I will make sure they are matched and flowed, I have asked arround and there are 2 or 3 shops that have a good rep. I guess I could just ask for the part number but I would really like to know the original application. .

RH, think water, as in holes of said water in which one pours money.

OR, a BOAT. A boat is an airplane that floats. It is an airplane that will never fly. But just remember, there is a lot more airplanes in the ocean than there are boats in the sky.

Where am I going with this? I haven't a clue.

But to answer your question, I believe PODs came from a marine application.

I like boats, but they sink. Also, you need a truck to carry or drag your boat to the water. And if you don't do it right, your boat will sink and drag your truck with it. Kinda sucks. So, in short, the only good thing that comes from boats is POD injectors.

I had a buddy who worked at a diesel supply shop back when I owned my 1st gen... after tracking down the part numbers and him looking them up and getting a price and everything, my cost (his cost) was only going to be like $30 cheaper than the prices you see offered by most of the advertisers... AND he was going to have to order them...

I never took him up on it... I sold the truck...

now, I'm all about getting the best price possible, but for all that hassle (mine and my buddy's), I'd rather pay the extra $30 to Piers and have them shipped out right then and KNOW I'm getting exactly what I want (I mention Piers because he recently helped me out with an item that I needed like yesterday, and he went out of his way to get it out to FedEx right after we got off the phone vs. waiting till they picked it up the next morning. his effort saved me $15 in shipping charges! hell, that right there is half of the $30, and based on my experience, I'll be repaid the other half and thensome over the years...

like I said, I'm all about getting the best price possible, BELIEVE ME... but I've BTDT on the POD's, and if I'm ever in a position to buy a set again, I'm just going to call up someone I trust who's got them in stock ready to ship and pay a little over cost.

Forrest,

Thank you for the those kind words... they make the effort worth while when you hear those compliments.

RHancock, we all have a budget to work with so don't feel any pressure here... I too have a very tight budget to work with and know just how hard it can be finding the extra $20 here and there.

I'll see if I can find out the info you want and let you know myself if possible.

I'd rather do that and have you come to see us later, than push off some nozzles on you now and have you avoid us in the future.

I may be speaking for PDR here but I know that Piers would like all of us to think this way when ever possible.

Bob,

no sweat, it's rare to get that kind of customer service... It's rare in this day and age that you can call up a well known business and have the man with his name on the door answer and talk with you like you were an old friend or someone who spent $10k a month at his business...

my only previous "dealings" with Piers was talking on the phone w/ him a couple weeks prior about a turbo (which he brought up and remembered when I gave him my name! I realize my name isn't exactly John Smith, but I was impressed none the less)

again, I'm all about saving money... if it was $100 savings, I'd probably have to go elsewhere, but if it's $20-30, I'll GLADLY support someone that I believe supports me, my hobby, and my livelihood without ever having met me!!!

if I didn't live a zillion miles from you guys, I'd probably bug you for a job... it must be nice to work for someone with that kind of personality.

cheers,

Forrest

So, in short, the only good thing that comes from boats is POD injectors.

Now Dave, one good thing that came from a boat is my association with Cummins diesels! I repowered my boat with one in 2000, (6BTA@ 270 hp). I liked the engine so much I bought a truck that has one!!:D :D

Of course, if I didn't have the boat I could be driving an 04!:(

(It is a hole into which I pour $$ )

RHancock,

ANother option I thought of while trudging through the woods this week, is the tips from the 370 diamond Bs. A hair less flow than PODs, but they are Bosch, so all you'd have to do is put the new tips/ needle valves in your old bodies. THere is a guy here who did that before the PODs got so popular.

BTW- nascar mark, piers, et al- since we're talking performance injectors, how is the R&D coming on the Power Wagon replacement?
