Dl5treez hit the nail on the head! Good thinking!

That is the cleanest engine compartment I have ever seen on a used truck. It looks like the aromralled the battery and everyting else.....

Buy it and run.

Do NOT assume the entire dealership is "cool" just because a sales person gave you his/her opinion on what they think in this situation. You are setting yourself up for a very frustrating and expensive situation.

The service manager and the owner of the dealership would have to sign off in writing for something like this. Most of the time the salesman you bought the truck from wont be there in a couple of years. Maybe... but in my case they never are. Of course then... nobody remembers them much less what they said about warranty.

You would think that DC would demand of dealers NOT to honor warranty in situations like this. I've been wondering if, in court, a lawyer could point out dealerships that honor warranty when performance goodies are added and prove some sort of "double standard" that exists depending on where you live.

Does it seem fair that one person will get warranty and another will not for the exact same situation? We're all buying the same product from the same company. Why do dealers get to make that decision?

I'm not upset or anything... just seems funny how some dealers work.

All used vehicle buyers beware - do NOT get overly impressed about a clean engine compartment, etc. A friend of mine owns a detail shop, and does detailing for some large dealerships. You would be amazed at how much difference the right chemicals and a little elbow grease can make. The turd that came in goes out looking like Cinderalla ready for the ball.

edge box

If you feel the need to get rid of it and go with something new

I would be interested in some power, I just bought my first dodge two weeks ago, A 2000. The first thing i did was add the afe tunnel ram. That made a big difference, But i need more power!any advise is very welcome

thanks

Well...??

Did you buy it, or pass??? Looked like a nice truck with few issues, other than a sleazy salesman who would promise you anything because you are in CO and he's in TX!

The radar detector is a nice touch too!

;)

Well, I had enough frequent flyer miles to go down there for nothin, so I am takin the chance and flying down on the 20th to take it for a spin.

I think that I am down to my only real issue being that the flatbed on the truck has the fuel filler hose coming up in the bed, not on the side. I am gonna have to fab something to fix that. I think that I can do that relatively easy, I hope.

Anyway, I will let you all know how exactly I am treated after this is all done. But they did come back and said that once a box is plugged in, a code is set that they can read, and if a failure occurs as a result of the box then the warranty will be denied.

I do plan on being my own warranty station on this truck anyway. But it helps me get the price down ;)

Not trying to flame anyone, but, Did anyone stop to think that maybe someone from DC or hired by DC reads these forums and now these dealerships will come under scrutiny by DC? Could that be why this dealership now says the warranty will be denied because it is traceable?

I know everyone tries to be helpful and informative but some times it can work against us.

Well, I hope someone from DC does monitor this forum. Because a warranty should not be a subjective thing. A part should be under warranty the same at Dealership A as it is at Dealership B. That would instill more consumer confidence in the dealerships.

This post was posted to show that a dealership would encourage unethical practices regarding performance enhancing products to make a sale. And that if the consumer (me) was not educated, mostly by this forum, they (me) would be in for a big suprise on their visit for a failed VP44. Because all of us know that the masses are out their unaware of most of these inconsistancy and issues with the trucks. It goes back to all the trucks going down the road with a failed lift pump or without at least a post Turbo EGT. These people look to the dealership to be the authority but we all know that some dealerships will work with you and others will not.

I think that DC should have a warranty claim agent in every dealership to monitor the enforcement of the warranty item or answer questions from prospective owners or current owners. The waters are certainly gray as to what is voided upon what change. For example my truck has a BHAF on it, does that void the warranty on the entire air intake all the way through to the turbo? Depends on the dealer, and sometimes the day your truck is there.

So I knew better and since I did I pushed the the remaining warranty claims in their selling pitch. The next person looking at that truck may not be educated regarding these issues, so they rely upon the information given to them by the dealer. And I have seen many people get flamed on this board for being unethical by removing certain items before taking their truck in for warranty work. This post shows that some dealerships condone that practice.
