I am looking at a new truck, new to me, at a dealership. Well on the truck installed is a black box of some sort not sure what one. Thanks to a great TDR member here is a picture

http://www.voyager12.net/dodge3500/pages/edge_JPG.htm

The dealer is telling me that the truck has only 31000 miles on it so it still has a factory warranty. I tell him that it has a performance enhancing box on it and doesn't that void the warranty? He proceeds to tell me that just to remove it when I need service on the vehicle!!! and but it back when I get the truck back! This is a Dodge Dealer!

I was kind of speechless. So I did indicated that I wanted in writing the inventory of the aftermarket parts on the truck and that the warranty would still be honored.

Anyway can anyone identify what box that is from that picture?

looks to be about the same as an edge ez box. prolly from a different company but looks the same. prolly about 65 hp and 180 ft lb of torque gain.

Yepper pepper its a Edge Ez I had one foe a few weeks this summer while I was waiting foe my Comp box to come in. If you like the Edge you should see if you can trade it in for a Comp you'll love the Comp.

This sounds like a good dealer to buy a truck! :)

can't believe what I was told

All I am going to tell you is this. If he really is the Dealer and

telling you this take him out to Lunch. Oo. :D

So I am glad to hear that it is a edge EZ! I was a little worried that it was an off brand that owner tried to buy some cheap power. I am guessin that the previous owner knew about these trucks, its got a pre turbo egt, boost and FP gauges and an AFE system and 4" exhaust on it already. So I think that the previous owner wanted to protect their investment and have a little fun with it too!

Last things I would ask everyone would be how to tell on the injectors without pulling them? Try to slip the clutch? Or just get it home and pull an injector out? Also don't know too much about the EZ but they are adjustable right? How do I tell what it is set to, I want to figure out how it compares to my other mostly stock truck? It is putting out about 32-34 pounds of boost at wot.

Thanks

I would say it has injectors for that kind of boost.

Mine runs 27 max now with sig. below.

I did have a 2000 with an ez and 275's and it would pull those boost numbers...

Inthinair, I am curious who the dealer is since we both live in Colorado. Care to give a little hint that us local guys might get?

The service writer I've dealt with since 1997 knows that we bought our truck to tow a 13,500 lb 36' 5th wheel and that it's "mildly" bombed. He has told me that I can bring it in for routine service with no problem, but that I should pull off the obvious "bombs" if I bring it in for a warranty problem that could be related to the bombing device.

As a matter of conscience, I wouldn't do that - it's fraudulent to me. I am my own warranty station - if I break it and it's my fault, I'll fix it. In point of fact, my truck hasn't been back to the dealer since I bought it. I just point this out, however, to say that such dealers do exist.

What your saying if I understand it, is that the dealer KNOWS that particular truck and how it is cared for by the owner, and is willing to service it because the truck has not been abused. It sounds like your getting a good deal with this particular dealer and that he is watching out for you, based on a few years of good relations. This sounds like a nice common sense approach.

Did I get that right:D
