well, it wouldn't be very smart of you to cut one off without sensor emulators or a program... there are already delete kits out there.

I bought a diesel because:

1- twice the mpg of my old gas truck

2- no smog checks

3- much cheaper fuel than gas



I still get twice the mileage, but can't afford to drive it as much due to bloated fuel and regulation costs. As a native californian, I have been subjected to the unfair regulatory changes all of my life. I'm told to pay more, and I get less in return. I bought into the "alternative" fuel game, and now I'm being punished. I wish that I could leave this EFFIN state, but my family and business are here. F U CARB, F U Arnold, and a big F U to Mr. O and his socialist agendas. I used to be a proud American..... now I'm just sickened by the greedy powers that are in charge. You forgot one F U. I would include one for the California legislature which is primarily responsible for the state's policies. The legislature created and supports CARB and other CA bureaucracies and has done so long before your mediocre governor moved to Sacramento and will be there after he is gone.

A little update..... today I went to have the smog check... failed! The tech stated that I need a catalytic converter. I said "no, you're misinformed. The 98. 5 24valve does'nt require a catalytic converter". He said he checked 3 sources for a '98, and they state that the truck came with a cat. I told him this was a '98. 5 not a '98 12valve (which requires a cat). He said he has no info on a "98. 5". Great! AND, the noise filter wired into my PCM is in violation because it has no CARB approval sticker, and my "PCV" system has been tampered with (missing the catch bottle). So now I have to prove to him via a letter from Dodge, that the truck does'nt require a cat. , replace the rediculous catch bottle, and remove my noise filter. What a EFFIN pain in the arse! Oh that will be $39. 95 for the 15 minute check... ..... I can only imagine the cost of the catch bottle is crazy high. The filter will be disconnected... hopefully it won't mess the transmission up too badly. Hopefully the boys at Dodge will give me a letter of explanation without charging me for it... ... Oh yeah, I'm quite ****** now! Anybody have a link to the emission parts needed for my truck so that I can shove it down his misinformed throat?? Apparently, the idiocy of this has no limits...

I may have a new draft tube setup with bottle laying around the garage that I would let go of for a nominal fee + shipping. PM if interested.

He did'nt specify the "sources". I do have what I believe are the factory emissions labels. I don't know what method he used to look up the applicable info. This was a "smog check" only facility that I chose because I thought they would be the most informed as to the new regulations on diesels... I guess a robot is a robot

I think what happens is the tech punchs up the truck in the computer and looks for a 5. 9 engine, which there are two, the diesel and the 360(also a5. 9) gas motor, which needs to have a cat. I recently stopped by two different smog stations and had them look at my truck and tell me if it would pass. Both said the cat was missing, which it never had/doesn't need. After prodding both of them a little bit to look a little harder on their computers, they both realized the error they were making.
