Stake/ rack side ideas

Rv power converter has a .5 amp draw when not plugged in.

I have a bunch of liquid tire balancer I am going to put in my RV tires next time I replace them. Only reason I'm going this route is I already bought it when I was going to try it out on the truck and then decided to take the centramatics off the old truck. Heat is a major killer of RV tires and I'm hoping the liquid will help keep the temps down. We will see, if it doesnt work well then I will go centramatics on the RV. Just a little spendy with triple axles.

I’ve had them on travel trailer 20+ years (separate sets). I have them on the rear axle of the CTD.

The home office is close to me (and I highly recommend them for alignment on any vehicle).

I’ve worked for several big truck firms which spec them for the tractors. All position. Can you tell? Without question.

On the TT (with high quality LT tires; balanced on a HUNTER 9700 to Mercedes spec) the addition of CMs meant nothing inside moved anymore. I accidentally left a half empty tea glass in sink once. 330-miles later, hadn’t spilled. (Leaf suspension with shocks). No more drawers or cabinets coming open. Same road.

Gary has the advantage of best suspension, and if his tires are to scale load pressure values, it may not seem worthwhile.

So, old man, (tail-twist time) get your son to run you a few miles while you ride in the trailer. Include one rail crossing. Agreement on speed.

Keep your cell phone on with him. Because between panties gettin’ all twisted up and TOO FAST (30 in a 35), you ain’t gonna like it.

Then put the CMs on. Re-Test.

They sell themselves.

Friends,

I only lift the vehicles enough to clear taking off the tire, sometimes requires walking it off the lugs. I try not to lift tires either, but do more or less a caveman (in the mancave:p) lift, Like Caveman Dan :p, where I line wheel in front of axle, sit in front of it (crab style:eek:), wedge my feet under each side, tighten my knees on either side of the tire , then with feet, knees, and hands lift the tire a couple inches to line up on the lugs. This could also be from a love making manual too :oops:.

I’m going to share a trick a very old tire guy showed me. He uses a steel coal shovel to lever the wheels off and on . ( he also lathes tires to correct the runout) I’ve been using a short handled spade with good results.

Now, fer the bad news... the Centramatics won't work... the outer ring contacts the caliper, preventing rotation. Can't flip the balancer around as the flat side needs to contact the wheel. Called Centramatics and their application expert will call me tomorrow when she get back in. Unless they make one several inches further out to clear the caliper, it won't work.

So, putting it back. Ill let y'all know what Centramatics says tomorrow.

Cheers, Ron

Not sure why you quoted my msg... I did respond in post above

One more hit guys.... the Centramtics fit my 7KLb Dexter axles with drum brakes, so decided to keep the balancers for this trailer.

Cheers, Ron

So if there is still a question, I'm happy to answer it.

EDIT: Did you insert a comment about using a snow shovel in my quote? Easier to do this if you insert my quote, delete the irrelevant text, then add your comments outside of the quotes. Then it's clear what happened and someone else's quote doesn't become my quote.

Cheers, Ron

Terribly sorry , didn’t realize the consequences by doing this .

Hey Jack,

No apology necessary... just helping a fellow TDR member through the technology maze of the forum.;)

Good opportunity to add a bit of info ref your suggestion... we don't get snow (much) here in SW Texas, so down here they are used to pick up horse dookies:p. So I guess they are dookie shovels here.:D:cool:

I have centramatics on both the pickup and the travel trailer. The tires on both rigs are wearing true, no cupping or other issues. Truck has Firestone Transforce AT and the Good Year Endurance on the trailer.
I had a set of centramatics go bad several years ago. The truck developed a noticeable shake. The bb's didn't move in the ring anymore. CM warrantied them and the newer set have been in place for several years and seem to be working as advertised. Anytime you have a tire off make sure you listen for the bb's rolling around in the cm's.
