source for take off wheel sets?

I am ready for new tires. I think this H2 wheel/tire might be the way to go. Where is a good place to get them? I have checked ebay, seam cheep enough, but the shipping costs almost as much as the wheels & tires... any ideas? I looked for a H2 site, like our TDR, but they don't apear to be as lucky as us.

Here’s how I did it.

Bought the tires/wheels on ebay…got a set of 5 for $725. New hummer buyers seem to be just throwing these away…. . they’d cost over $2K from a dealer. The tires alone will run at best $130 a piece…. that’s assuming you have 17” wheels to mount them on…and live next to the warehouse you’re buying the tires from…. shipping can be a killer.

Anyway here goes.

Bolt pattern is spot on…no mod required. Two modifications that are of concern.

Center hub hole diameter. The stock H2 wheels measure 4. 58”…where our second gen trucks measure 4. 75”. That comes down to (4. 75-4. 58)/2 = . 085 of metal to remove from inside of hub hole.

Centercaps…. . the stock H2 caps fit the front…but the rear axle hub won’t let them fit. You could cut a hole in the H2 caps to make them work on the rear hubs and you’re off and running. The H2 caps look OK…buy they’re kinda like ladies underwear…they might feel good but you don’t want your Dodge buddies catching you using them J. So you need to do some trimming of the stock centercaps to get them to fit the new wheels.

Lookin good buddy. Good thinking and resourcefulness.

Hey Bighammer... .

Just curious. What solution did you use for lugnuts? Did you buy a bunch of H2 nuts or did you use your old Dodge nuts?

BTW nice looking 3gen. Those 35's look just right on these trucks.

Cheers,

Gill

EGILLILAND - Just did the same to my 99 and the ridge reamer worked great!! Thanks. I have a little rubbing on the driver side only at full left. The tire hits the plastic fender well slightly. I'm trying the 3. 5mm spacer that is currently only on the right side. I may need to get a 1" coil spring spacer or something.

10-G - I was quoted $240 from Wheel Specialties in Phoenix, AZ to ream the wheels out. This included dismounting and remounting and balancing. $160 if I just brought the wheels.
