RPM Dropping to near 500 when stopping and shaking truck

Mopar Dirty Laundry

I replaced both batteries on my 2019 ram 2500 Laramie now my check engine light is on. Does it just need to go through a drive cycle or do I need to have it reset by a dealer.

I would make sure all the wires are hooked up and tight. You shouldn’t get a CEL from a battery change.

Also check that all the wires attached to each positive terminal got hooked back up. Keep in mind that not all new batteries are good right off the shelf (or out of the box).

I suggest giving them a good, overnight, slow charge. Positive charger cable on one battery, negative charger cable on the other.

Also, what kind of batteries did you install? Flooded cell? AGM? Should not matter but curious.

Old post but same thing just occurred to me. The cel auto turns off after three run cycles after problem is corrected. (low or no voltage.)
