I am a new member and I have been reading the posts almost daily for about a month. All the information is great. I do have a question: I am ordering a 2500 CTD truck in the fall to replace my 90 Chevy Sportside Truck. I can't decide if I want the Clearance lights on the cab or not, so I thought I would ask the question. Who has them? Would you get them again? Why or why not?

I have them. They came stock on my truck. I like the looks, and I installed a Lund visor that fits sweat around the lights.
I would get them again, I would opt for them if they were not on my truck.
My $0. 02. Hope it helps.
BTW, welcome abaord #ad

I've got em on mine and I think they look great. I'd get em again without a doubt.

I have them on my current truck (see sig) and I had them on my '94 and '99 Ram gassers. I would get them again and I have never had any problems with them; never even had to change a bulb.

I just ordered a new truck and did not opt for the clearance lights. I don't like the reflection when it's foggy. Plus, I didn't care for the orange hood at night, but I don't know if the Dodge suffers from that.

You can't see any reflection from inside.

I always wanted the clearance lights when I was looking at trucks. When I ordered my truck, I thought about ordering it without them. I did end up ordering them, and I'm glad. I really like the look of them. $68. option. So my opinion is if you think you want them and don't order them, you may regret it.

I have them on mine, i love them, and i will order them on any other truck i buy. Not only do they make the truck safer, but they make your truck seem bigger to other cars. EVERYBODY gets out of my way when i am in the fast lane.

My truck did not have them. I put them on after I bought it. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Without a doubt.

I say "Get em"! For $68 they look great. I got them for safety reasons too. I have my Clifford alarm set to turn on my lights way before dark. If my clearance lights saves me from getting into even one accident, it's well worth the $68! (I *heard* black, then white trucks are the most likely to get into an accident?)

I haven't heard of any problems with them either. Only had mine for a month, but like em and the great looks!

Pat

I like 'em! You are buying a real truck. It should have real truck lights on it. Mi dos pesos... ... ...

I stayed up at night thinking about this one. Half of me wanted them because it looked cool - the other half was worried about leakage and the fact that it didn't look as "clean" with them on. I always figured that if I really wanted them later, I could get them... . I was actually hoping that some after-market company would make some smaller, flatter ones that looked less-cheap.

There are days of course where I wish I had just ordered them!

Most people love them or hate them. My 94 has them; Sue ordered them on her 01. We would order them again.

Sue's sister would not let her husband order them on his 01 "brand F" PS because they look "too rednecky" (a direct quote). I don't know what that proves because his taste in trucks is about as good as his taste in women. #ad

ETHDEE, if I was woried about having the orange hood at night I wouldn't have ordered orange paint! #ad
I love my lights. My '91 gasser had a Lund moon visor with the little lights and they were really cool. It helps when people are following you somewhere at night because they can always see the markers.

I gotta have them. When shopping for the truck to replace my truck that was totaled it was on my list of things that I had to have. I didn't want to have to add them myself, seen lots of headliners come down and not go back up and stay up the same.

Its a no brainer... . Ordered them on mine and love them. Safer, better looking, classy, what more can you do for under 100. 00$

Just what exactly are they for?? I do not have them but my truck is a 2wd 2500. If I were to buy new I would go 4x4 2500 WITH the Cab lights. I personaly don't care for them on 2wd single wheel trucks but they rock on 4x4s and 3500s IMO. Just wondered where the name came from... by the time you could see the light on a low clearance object you can kiss your truck goodbye lol.

I don't have them and can't figure out what I would use them for. I don't have fog lights either.

Clearance lights are required on any vehicle that exceeds a certain width. That is why you have to have them on a 3500 dually. I personally think they look good and add a bit of safety, so had I ordered a 2500, I would have included them.

Dresslered is right, DOT requirement on anything over 80" wide. The top lights, fender lights, and tailgate lights are required. DOT cops don't bother Joe Public about them but will certainly cite anyone running commercial. Lights have to be functioning & you are supposed to carry at least one spare of each color with you.

Besides, they look cool.
