I've had the TST #5 plate for the last several years. I just now had to change the clutch last week. Mine had been slipping for at least a year in 4th and 5th. It started slipping in 3rd so I decided it was time to bite the bullet. I paid a grand for a Valair Clutch with Kevlar and the 13inch conversion with the 6speed flywheel. I had a guy in town R&R it for $500. He said that I can wait on the hydraulics but expect to have to do it eventually. He said that there is one that allows you to adjust the clutch pedal.
I have 188,000 on the truck and this was the first clutch, the mechanic said that I had more meat left on the clutch than one of his other customers that had only 10,000 miles. My hub was starting to come apart and the pressure plate was weak.
It was asked in a previous post why people do the clutch after all of the power mods? Simple answer, Power mods are cheaper and easier to do. Besides, my clutch lasted a few more years after the power mods were done.
