Hey all, finally got the bugs worked out of the front end of the truck, so now it's time to get the toasted factory clutch out. I am pretty sure I will go with the South Bend Con O for my application, but a while back I heard something about a Luk clutch that supposedly handled as much horsepower, and some vendor was offering a deal to members of this website? Does anyone know anything about this? Or for that matter, does anyone else have any input on any other clutch manufacturers to look into for my application. My ultimate goal is around 450-500 RWHP, street driven, no pulling, and very light duty towing (2000lb trailer)- (I just want a 7800 lb race car... :D ). If anyone out there has any advice on this matter, let me know. Thanks-

I believe the Luk clutch can handle the power level you'r going after but will wear faster than the South Bend. It seems a matter of pay more now or pay even more later.

I went with the Centerforce dual friction. Don't know how well it would handle 450+HP - I don't want to get over 350.

It's about $600 delivered to your door - pressure plate and disk.

On edit - see you have a 99 so assume it is a 5 speed. The 5 speed centerforce is about $450.

I got a 13" "6-speed size" SBC Con OFE, stouter than the 5-speed version, they don't have the problem of the center tearing out of the disc, but with the weight you are towing, you should be OK with about any decent clutch.

I'm running the 13" Con OFE in my 5 speed. Great clutch, smooth pedal. Had to get used to the point where the clutch disengages, but you learn that pretty quick.
