Cat fuel filtration system?

Stock fuel filter screw on cover

77EDBB43-FB0C-4304-AEB9-8F521B2DFA2D.jpeg Hi all, I recently purchased a 2006 5.9 Cummins w/ 114,000 miles. The previous owner had a long list of maintenance completed in the past two years— mostly reliability related.

Two times now I have gotten DTC P0088 “Fuel Rail Pressure Signal Is Above Max Limit”. When this happens the truck runs completely fine as far as I can tell and drive ability is not affected. No rough idle, doesn’t accelerate any different, etc. I cleared the code on the MM3 both times after running some pulls through all gears.

I have searched this forum a bunch and I can’t find the answer to a couple questions:

1. Truck is tuned by a professional tuner (don’t know who). Could the tune be causing this problem?

2. Can the FCA, Fuel Pressure Sensor, or Pressure Relief Valve all slowly fail? Hence the random CEL once cleared.

Any help is appreciated!
