"custom" exhaust question

Has anyone had an exhaust custom made for them at a shop?

I can't find anyone to bend 5" pipe at any exhaust shops I've called so far. I recall a gas powered SUV that I had - and rather than buying a premade aftermarket system, a local shop (in California) bent me one onsite out of a single legth of tubing - it was a perfect fit and cost less than me ordering a system I'd have to install myself.

I doubt you'll come even close to the price of a kit in a custom system. You can buy a kit like this and have a local shop install it.

i got my kit from Diamond eye 5" and it rocks. simple, cheap and well made.

Thanks... ... just to confirm - my stock exhaust is 5" from turbo back, correct?

a 5" turbo back from farm boys diesel is less than three hundred and a donoldson m090535 muffler is less than 100 you can install it your self in one afternoon with very few tools no drone and quietest on the market

I think your going to find it very hard to find a shop that can custom bend 5" pipe or even 4" for that matter. The dies for the pipe benders are pretty expensive and they would have to do a lot of those larger pipes to pay for the equiptment. At least that is what I was told by a friend that owned a custom muffler shop.

Your stock exhaust is 4".



It would be very hard to find a shop to bend 4" pipe, and very expensive.



I went to a Cummins dealer and a local big rig exhaust shot after giving up on automotive muffler shops and 3" was the biggest either of them could bend.

You might try Pinnacle Power Exhaust in Dubois, Wy. They did a 4" mandrel bend set up for me. I did install 2 in series mufflers and it's fine, gets nice and quiet as it gets hot, about 25 miles, but it's not abnoxious when cold. As I walk around the truck it's nice and deep and it all comes out the tail pipe. They also make duel setups and ship all over the country. I rode in one of their trucks with the duels, really quiet at WOT.

Thanks for the replies - the poor ROI on the 4 and 5" pipe dies makes a lot of sense for a shop owner not to offer this service. I also went to a big-rig service facility locally and they only fit together existing pre-bent parts. I'll likely go this route. I just had such a great experience with an SUV a few years ago that I thought I'd investigate!

I'll second Pinnacle. I have their dual 4" without the muffler, well, because they didn't have any when i ordered mine. Its a very good fit, took an afternoon to install and you keep the spare tire unlike some systems on the market.

Are you close enough that you could check Pinnacle power out to see if they are still in business? I have one of there 4" pipes on mine and have not been able to get a response from them, web site or phone number. When I did a phone call, I got some other person on that number. I am looking for the over the axle piece.

No need to make a special trip, Thats a long way to just check it out. Unless you just have to much fuel in your tank. Appreciate the offer John, but no hurry on my account. But I don't think that there would be anyone elses pipe that would fit in its place. But it would be nice to know if they are just taking a break. Did you know that Ol'dog lives in Moran?
