Howdy!

I was changing my oil today. I bought some oil from a Napa parts store, the only place that can get the Valvoline Premium Blue. I had about 3 qts of an older container that I dumped in first. Then I started adding the new stuff. Got about 3/4ths of the 2nd gallon jug of the stuff in when I noticed below where it says Valvoline Premium Blue, in smaller print it said, "2000 Synthetic Blend. " I thought the stuff was awful expensive, but my wife picked it up and paid for it.

I've got 21k+ miles on the truck and this will be the 1st sythetic it will see. I don't think I'll have any problem with either the sythetic stuff itself, or the blending of the pure mineral oil and the sythetic blend (especially since I'd say the mineral part of the synthetic blend is the exact same as the pure mineral oil). I was going to wait until 30,000 miles and then CONSIDER running Amsoil synthetics, but noooooo, the Napa guys tricked me. #ad

Please give me your opinions. Do you think there is any problem with this?

No auto trannies in my home! Just say, "No!" to auto trannies.

You will have no problem. You engine is already broken in and the oils are compatible. Just don't try to extend the drain interval with a synthetic blend.

JyRo:
It's kind of like a cow eating on the side of a hill. One leg has to grow longer than the other but the cow can still eat. It is a blend. Not a full synthetic. I feel you'll be ok. I used Premimum Blue for 134k miles but now run Amsoil for the last 61K.
Good luck

I agree, no need to worry.

If you want to be 100% sure, for piece of mind you can call Valvoline at (800)ALL-FLEET and ask them.

I have mixed oils on Diesels in the past without out any hassle, just dont extend your draining interval, you are not really gaining anything.

much as i hate to admit it, one day i got tired of seeing remnants of VPB,VPB2K, Rotella, and Delo. Did'em all in one crankcase load and had no problem. "Kids, don't try this at home. "
