what happens when dealer has no idea what they traded in

For thos of you who don't know, I'm selling my pulling truck in the TDR classifieds along with a few other places.

I recieved a e-mail from this guy who seems interested in my "item"

Sounds pretty crummy to me, what do you guys think?

Remember, were not exactly talking about small coin here, it's my baby and this guy refers to it as an "item" scheesh.

Hello,

I'm mark. I will like to purchase your (item] and I'll

like to know your last offering price if it will be

okay with me. I'll be making my payment with a check

that is drawn from a (us) Bank. If you do I want you

to get in touch with me immediately for me to proceed

with the Payment. As for the shipping I'll contact a

shipper agent of mine who will arranged for the Pick

up as soon as the transaction is sealed and i will

like you to get back to me. while i will like you to

send the pics to me through my email ads. I'll be

looking forward to your response. Thanks

and Have a Nice

day. Regards,

Sounds like a scam to me. Be careful & don't give out any personal banking info. When I sold my Harley I told the guy I want a cashiers check in my name drawn from a local bank in my area & we would sit tight until the check cleared. The guy didn't have a problem with it, for he knew in todays many scams floating around that a good deal was worth the wait.

Im selling a truck over on The Diesel Stop and have gotten many of those, mostly from nigeria. Think about that guy, if he dosent even want to see the truck before he buys it hes just talking about monetary exchange its a scam.

I just went through the same crap trying ot sell my truck... it is a Scam. I had recieved emails from dozens of people wanting to buy my "item", "Car" , "vehicle"... etc. Being bored some nights I would bait them. Asking price was 15K. I told them my final and lowest price was 19K. One claiming to be in Maine emailed back and forth about five times. I told them I would save them the delivery cost and drive up... . Thy just about had a pickle, stating that they wer "under contract" with a delivery company, and ... picking up the truck with the delivery company was the only way of buying the car".

SCAM!!! I forget who but someone just went throught that. You DO get a check, however they have no account at that bank. Of corse they cant come by to test drive or to pick up vehical, you might beat their @$$ #@$%!

I've sold lots of items via the internet and it seems about once a month I get that same email.

Yes It's a scam!

Check the properties of his email address and see where it originated from.

Oh, those scams are funny. I would like to kick those guys butts.

It was really funny, I sent a very very obscene reply to one of the scammers with all kinds of bad remarks about his mother and what he was. I got this mumbo jumbo vudu email back. I laughed and laughed. Oh how great that was...

This is definitely a scam. Now, here's what to do, if you're interested. Scam the scammer. :D First, let me give credit where credit is due: "ferrarichat" - http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/index.php? The gents over there just love to get these messages in order to string the scammer along, kinda like playing a fish on a line. I gotta tell ya, some of these f-chatters are really creative pros at scamming the scammers (who, of course, deserve it). They have elevated this to an art form. Most of these episodes are hilarious and have drawn out to a couple weeks of back and forth.

I'll be happy to point you in their direction or vicey versey. Meanwhile, I'll try to find some linkies to the funnier and more outrageous exchanges.

Its best to never click on any link inside of a scam/spam email or reply to it. First you never know where that link is actually goind and what it can do to your computer. There are script kiddies out there that can write code to hose your computer just by going to that site. Also by clicking or replying you have just validated your email address which means that it can be sold for around $10 to anyone who wants it.

Theb st thing to do with spam is to do a DNS WHOIS like this one http://www.dslreports.com/whois type in the originating IP from the header of the email and find the abuse@xxx. xxx email address and send it off as an attachment.

Most ISP's have a clause in the terms of serivice that disallow spamming and other abnoxios acts. It does work. After about a month of doing this my spam will go down to almost mil. I haven't done it in about 3 months and I am starting to get about 4-5 a day. Time to start the battle again. This does take a bunch of time but when you can go all day without getting any mail that you do not want then it is worth while

You're kidding right??? You can't tell this was written by a Nigerian con artist with an 8th grade education? Don't answer it, unless you want to tell him to go **** himself.

I have known people who thought they would get the better of these scammers, and corresponded with them, only to wake up in the middle of the night when 3-4 Nigerians pounding on their front door. These scammers have accomplices in the U. S. to act as Muscle if things don't go their way. They are bad people--do not go for the bait. All they need is your bank account number and they can loot your account and the bank and the Fed's can do nothing.

I had my '82 Ford 1-ton dually advertised for sale a year or so ago. I got dozens of emails like that offering to buy the truck sight-unseen and pay for shipping to Europe or Africa etc. etc. Finally I had to remove the ad--all the scammer response was just too annoying. One moron had the nerve to somehow get my phone number and call me using an AT&T Operator as a translator. This was at 3:00 a. m. my time! I finally asked the Op. where the call originated from and the answer came back, "Africa". I just hung up. These people in Nigeria have been doing this sort of thing for 30+ years, and are experts at it. And they WILL hurt you if they can.
