Twins Idea

New hoses from Mr. Bob

My "normal" turbo is a DD HX-40. Last dyno at BD was 497.

Jammer 2 busted in about 15 minutes of drive time. Total of about 45 minutes on the turbo before I figured out it was broken.

In the first 10 minutes it looked like my temps were up by 200°. Not sure if it was already toast by then. May have broken on the first spool up.

So whats the verdict BHaner???? Are you getting another or a refund? I bet now is a bad time to get anything from LV, with may madness and all.

Turbo is on it's way back to Turbonetics in CA. I am not sure that I want another yet... It all depends on what really happened to the turbo. If it was a factory defect, and never ran correctly... Then yes, I would like to try one that works. If it was something that I (or my truck) did to it that caused the problem(could happen again), and the temps that I saw before are what it is going to do... Then no, I will find something that works for me. Has anyone seen any EGT decrease from this turbo??

Was there no required break in period?

Im surprised that the EGT's were hotter than your 40. Hopefully it was a defective unit. The Original Jammer (not the Jammer BB) was supposed to flow like/better than a 40, and this was supposed to be dimilar to a H2E.

Heard there were 3 so far that had problems. First batch of a new product. Probably just a glitch of some kind. I'm sure they will get it resolved.

I hope so. . with stock like spool and better cooling than a 40 I am ready to buy one but not ready to pay full price to beta test.

But think how boring it would be if you got good parts the first time and they performed as advertised. Where is your spirit of adventure.

The million dollar question.....

I'd guess that testing showed lots of positives or DD would not have brought it to market.

Methinks they may have been the victim of a bad production run.

This is the first thing I have bought from DD after hearing alot of positive things about them. I decided before hand that I would give the turbo a second chance if I had to. I have never bought a diesel related item over 1000 dollars that was not defective or in need of rework. Second tries seem to be the norm. I have had a couple of items that were not right initially, but turned out very well down the road. This turbo still has my interest.

I must have missed the testing or it was all hush hush. Based on the first post of this thread on 3/31 none had been sold yet.

I still have high hopes for it and will wait to see. Maybe the folks who did the testing before it went to market can shed some more light on its performance.

What was the reccomended break in period??

Last I heard, Joe D was getting this turbo on his truck saturday. So maybe he'll let me "test drive" his and see how I like it before I commit.

That's a pretty sad commentary on the state of the aftermarket and QC.

Of course, if I pay on installments of under $1K, maybe I can get around this jinx?

I just talked to DD about the turbos. I am going to try it on my truck when it comes back. It sounds like they figured out what went wrong very quickly. I like their attitude and the way they have handled it.
