Hi fellas, well my tire problems continue. Back in may i bought a set of 305/55/r20 nitto grapplers from discount tire. Got em put on and they shook the crap out of my truck. Took it back, they found one tire bad. Too much rubber on one side. So they replaced it. I drove the truck some more and it still shakes only not as bad. Had to take the truck to les shwab for a diagnosis because I don't have a discount tire where I live. Low and behold, yet another tire was bad. They put the suspect tire on the road force machine and it measured 40lbs over the acceptable limit. So far, discount has been unwilling to work something out with me based on my location. I'm 8 hours from the closest discount tire. WHen I bought the tires, they assured me that if something was wrong, they would work something out. So far they haven't. My suggestion would be to stay local and stay with Les Shwab if you have one. At least they stand by their products. Stay away from Discount.

Hmmm... . I've always had exceptional service from the Discount Tire stores here in the Houston area. Go figger, I guess.....

I bought a set of Michelins from Discount a few months ago and had a vibration. They roadforced them and I still had a vibration, but it was better. To solve my problem, they justed ordered me 6 more at no charge and roadforced them too. No vibration, and as far as I am concerned that is going well past just regular customer service. Thanks for the great service Discount Tire!!

Another vote in favor of the great service I get from Discount Tire. I can't count how many sets of tires I have bought from them over the years, they have always stood behind them for me.

Sorry for your bad luck.

Discount Tire here by me in LAS has always been outstanding... They have mounted and balanced tires for my truck and my boat trailer for FREE and I didn't even buy the tires from them! Same if I take a flat in. . They fix it for free. . Sorry for your troubles...

We have a local Discount Tire here and I choose not to do business with them. Mostly pushy sales people and they know better than me what I want! Must work on commission, although I don't buy the cheap tires by any means. :)

I, too, have always had excellent service from Discount Tire. But, if I didn't live in a town that had one, I'd probably buy from the place that was its equal that I DID have locally.

I usually pick out the tires on-line and then go to the store and tell them which ones I want. The tires are cheaper this way as they post their best prices on-line and have the full selection. It usually takes a day or two for them to get them trucked in, and I DON'T PAY THE SHIPPING; they do.

I have tried Discount Tire several times. In my opinion, if you are purchasing generic tires they can sell you from stock, DT is fine. If you want anything special, like a mud tire for a 17" wheel, you are better off a elsewhere. I have had the best experiences at Purcell Tire.

Tires are like anything else. If you buy something online and your having problems you usually have to go back to the vendor, if you buy something from Sears they are not going to tell you to take it to JC Penney for replacement. We vacation all over the western US and I try to pick a tire dealer that covers that area to some extent. The only places you may have full continent coverage is from Costco, Walmart, Sears, Sams Club etc. Since I live in AZ. I would not buy tires from a dealer that only services on the east coast.

DT has given me good service on this and several other vehicles. Like any other business, they won't please everybody.

I have had nothing but good service from Discount.

If they are not taking care of you then my suggestion would be to take your complaint up the ladder. Contact the regional manager or go higher if you don't get the response you want.

Why not try getting ahold of Discount's headquarters, in Scottsdale, AZ. (sorry, I don't have the number). Maybe they can offer you some help.

I have to agree with the many who have had great service from DT. They have gone well beyond the call of duty, on occasion. I have been able to "bargain" with them, also. Usually, their first price offering is high but, they are very competitive.

Also, I agree that they "sometimes" try to push their store brands. I think there's a higher profit margin, in them. The store brands seem to be of a lesser quality, from what I've seen.

I would not go anywhere but to Discount Tire. They have been nothing but top notch as far as I am concerned... very professional and fast free rotations. They have agreements with other tire retailers to provide warranty service for their customers if you are out of the area where they have stores. I have used it several times with no issues at all. The larger the tire the harder it is to get it balanced. I have used Costco a few times, but they refuse to put any tire size on a vehicle other than what came on it... . not even one upsize.

I've only had one issue with Discount Tire. It was on a pair of tires I had put on my old dually. Two or three days after I bought them, I had to get on the brakes pretty hard at about 75 and thought I had flat spotted the tires. Turns out the tread actually came apart in big chunks. Took the truck to have the tires replaced and the guy refused to warranty them. Said it wasn't a road hazard. I told him that I didn't expect them to be covered under road hazard, but as defective tires. Still refused.

Called Discount Tire headquarters and talked to a VP. Explained my story and he agreed that the tires should noe have done what they did and he referred me to a nearby store. Apparently the guy I talked to had some serious stroke becuase the guys in the store were VERY helpful and replaced my tires with no problems.

Same here. I've bought numerous sets of tires and wheels from DT. While the "discount" part of their name is a bit of a stretch at times they have never screwed me. They fix my flats for free and even warranteed a $160 Michelin from a BMW that was destroyed internally due to me hitting a starter motor laying in the middle of the freeway. They prorated it and charged me $32.

Most of you that have a discount tire locally probably won't have any problems. Unfortunetly I was one of the rare few that is having problems with my tire and the guys at the DT I bought them from pretty much told me I was SOL. So, I called their main office and finally got in touch with one of their district managers. Now I'm getting somewhere. New tire is on the way and they are going to reimburse me for the rebalancing of the front tires and the mounting and balancing of the new tire when it comes in. Finally after 4 months. I just think it's BS to be treated that way after you drop a couple grand on wheels and tires.

I have never had good luck with Discount Tire. My take is that Discount tire is the Walmart of tire shops. If you're mainstream, buy what is in stock and don't care about service quality, you will save money. If you need special tires and like individual service, the money you save will not be worth it.

My tire problem was finally fixed. It took only one trip to les shwab to diagnose my problem. This compared to the months of pulling teeth with discount. One good thing did come out of this though. Turns out, I had yet another NITTO that was manufactured defective. It had too much rubber on one side and couln't be balanced. It road forced at 116 lbs which is 40 lbs over the limit. I have been trying to work the problem out with the DT headquarters since the local shop where I bought the tires told me I'm SOL. So, after a lengthy conversation, they sent me a new tire and are reimbursing me for the mounting and balancing and problem diagnosing at les shwab. Now the tires run fine BUT it really shouldn't have taking 3 months for this to happen. I'll never buy tires there again.
