ok so is that muffler going to be enought for say 500 to 600 hp and twin turbos? how should i point it to make it quiet?

It might, the stock turbo flows 650ish CFM, twins may be around 2K or more (check with the twins maker) and fuel adds to the flow. So the baffled one may flow less than your truck is capable of. But the non-baffled one would be plenty.

Flow Pro muffler

I have a friend that is a sales rep for Flo Pro exhaust. We just put a muffler on my 07 2500 after having removed the factory muffler about 2 yrs ago. The drone was driving me nuts and was really bad when I towed my toy hauler. he installed a "Big Oval" part number 2507 and the difference is amazing! Much quieter but still has a throaty mellow sound to it. I'll find out how it does towing at the end of this month but so far I'm a happy camper! i even added a 5" chrome tip to top it off. When I had my 04, I bought a M090544 and put on it. I had a MBRP 4" turbo back and could not stand the drone, when taking off from a stop sign. The Donaldson made it quiet again. I just bought another M090544 to put on my 05. I found a MBRP turbo back off road exhaust system. The kit comes with a muffler delete, so I did not have to pay for a muffler that I would not use. Hope to get this stuff installed in the next few days.

SGBARRACUDA - what result did you end up with? I am SERIOUSLY considering the FLO Pro 5" setup and using band clamps so I can run no muffler empty and with a muffler for pulling the 5er... I don't mind load - just don't want the dreaded drone. I currently run the Banks Monster 4" on mine.

My other concern is clearance issues for my Pac Brake Air Bags on the rear axle... Any one have any experience with this or even pics of rear axle clearance whether with or without the airbags?

Exhaust Drone

I have an 03 and went to 4" all the way back- stock, it was 3. 5 from the turbo to muffler. I have a drone, worse when I am towing. I heard once that you can also add a Aero Turbine Muffler and it will take out the drone. My question is do you put the Aero Turbine upstream or down stream of the existing muffler? They cost around $140.

DBrundage - father in law has the same 4" Banks Monster I currently have and thought it was too loud - he installed the AeroTurbine in place of the CAT and left the Banks muffler in place - very quiet...



I am on the other end of the spectrum - 24 years in the Army left me mostly deaf - I got the last of my parts over the weekend and hope to start the install this week - 5" Flo Pro with no muffler, but have the AeroTurbine 5050XL and a 7" tip... .

The '03 didn't have a CAT. Do you know if his CAT was upstream of the muffler?

Typically the cat is about 12 inches forward of the muffler (in the OE position).
