I want to check my fuel pres. on my 98 12V.

I have a 0-100 PSI oil pres. gauge ( New, that I'm not using), with a 1/8" NPT connection. I would like to install this, just to get a reading.

Question: Is the metal on the head of the banjo bolt thick enough to tap and safely install the NPT fitting?

After checking fuel pres. I will just remove gauge fitting, then inst an NPT plug.

This is just an idea I came up with, and I'm certainly open to suggestions for other ways to check fuel pres.

TIA, Ray

I would recommend doing your drilling by going down the center of the bolt so that you are well centered then tapping from the otherside. What you are describing is how mine is done as well.

I just finished drilling, tapping, installing, etc. All went, good no leaks.

I ended up just mounting the gauge to the fireall.

It sure is bouncy. When I first started it, at idle it bounced back and forth from 25 to 40 lbs. I new I had air in the line, so I thought it might slow it down if I bled it.

After bleeding it bounces from 25 to 55lbs.

Oh well, at least I know its got fuel pressure.

To deal with the bouncing, you either need a pressure snubber or a needle valve. Isspro makes a snubber that works reasonably well. You can make a needle valve by going to your local hardware store.

You will need to install a "needle" valve at the banjo to control the bouncing gauge. It will need to be almost completely closed off and will still read pressure.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. to stop the bouncing.

I'll get a needle valve and install it this afternoon.

This is why I love the TDR.
