I want more power/torque down low. Juice is good up high but I'm looking for more. Has anybody got any experience with the Hot Unlock? If so how much of a difference does it make down low? Would stacking a Smarty be better for the bottom end?

Juice hot did not seem to gain much if any on low end. I have heard a smarty is a lot more aggressive on low end but I don't have one myself.

I am running a Drag comp with a Smarty on a Hot Rod VP44 on my 98. 5'. I have an AFE Stage 2, a set of Jammer Stage 5s, a Fass 150, Banks intake horn, and 4"-5" exhaust. Runs very healthy! Juice and Comp are same fueling with different controls if that helps you any.

Stacking an edge with a smarty is not a good idea. I know people that have done this. They had plenty of power, but ended up melting the pistons. The edge chip changes timing and fuel. Smarty also changes timing and fuel. Your time will be way out of whack and cause a meltdown. I would suggest to get rid of the edge and run the smarty alone. Edge tells you in the book you get with the chip NOT to stack with another programmer/chip.

get some injectors, for the price of a smarty youcan add 100-150HP and have it through a large portion of the rpm range.

Smarty is overpriced. The edge juice is not bad, hot unlock will just add power on the top end.

Why do you want more power down low anyways... its just harder on your trans and drive line parts.

Right, and the President thinks that you shouldn't have a gun either. The Smarty can add timing, but Marco loads software into it so you can run programs with or without timing for people who are stacking. As long as you are responsible about it, or just want the power, it can all be managed pretty easily.

the hot unlock only lets it fuel to 3200 rpm instead of 2700 rpm(i believe it is). it dont help down low. i run on level 5 or 6 on juice and level 8 on smarty and no problems so far. have been running this way for 25,000 miles.

I did stack the Edge with a Smarty and made less power per the dino. Sold the smarty and just run the Edge with hot code. Did you notice the Edge will let you set low end responce level from low to high for each level 1 to 6?

Stacking the Smarty typically doesnt add any power on the topend. In fact it may even lose maybe 5hp. Look at your dyno graph down low before and after Smarty and youll see where the Smarty comes into play... that 5hp drop in topend NOBODY is going to notice, and the downlow gain will more than make up for it

use the Smarty levels 4,6,8 depending on how aggressive you want the low end power. even levels do NOT add timing. i love the Smarty for checking/clearing codes, tire size adjustment, adjustability (level 1 timing only or half power allows me to use the cruise control on the highway!). it is a big gain in driveability even if it doesn't add to your dyno numbers. with your auto trans i think you'd like the Smarty, I get too much low end fuel on my manual with 130hp sticks. just my $0. 02!
