What are you showing here, your back up motor?

What's this have to do with the Engine build up thread?

:D Continue with the diesel engine build up... ... ... ... ... .

It's a GM Performance parts DRCE block, raw, YOU choose the lifter bore location and angle.

What are you planning to install some duramax heads on it?

You can order a mopar block the same way, and raw head forgings as well- no machining for valves or chambers it allows for some really trick machining angles and locations. You know to angle the valve away from the bore walls . . . . . little power secret stuff.

Good stuff there Greg... the v-8... 10 head bolts per side ... overhead cam?

Actually, the boss is there for four studs on each side (like a 426 Hemi). You just have to drill the holes for the studs.

That would make it 14 per side.

10 isn't enough to seal an engine that would be built in THIS block, imo

Might this engine run a little higher than normal compression

Interesting fact , a Pro Stock 500 cid runs 15. 7 to 1 compression , my D/ED V6 Chevy Splayed valve run as high as 16. 2 to 1 the difference is the diesel has short timing events which build cylinder pressure.

The block is a DRCE II block before its gets head bolts and lifters , I have a few laying around if any one needs one . The interesting part about the block is it’s the same bore center as a DuraMax . being blank you could put head bolts were you want them, but I believe the DuraMax block is plenty strong enough to make 1000 + hp if you will rev it up and out of the torque band . 1000 hp at say 4700 RPM’s would be 1117 ftp. This is very manageable ,
