<font color=blue>Well I was at the dealer yesterday and now pondering trading my truck in on an ETH, but was curious does anyone have power figures on the above combo? Taking my truck in today to have it appraised... .

Thanks

I seem to remember a thread by Joe D about an ETH that was worked by DD with that same combo and yielded around 410hp. Do a search, I think it was a couple months ago in the 24V forum.

Just curious, but WHY? Bombed auto is more fun than bombed stick IMO. The more power you get with the stick, the shorter the fun time with the pedal to the floor before you have to shift again. I would do the transmission in the truck you have with DTT stuff and do something else with all the money you are going to lose trading a one year old truck.

I've been wondering about this: Let's say you have an ETC and an ETH with identical drivetrains, and you add the DD3's, EZ and HX-40 to each. I'm assuming the ETH will produce more HP/TQ, but how much?

YEEEEEHAAAA!!

hey Kat . . if your going to power it up get the ETC so you can stack the boxes up... also in retrospect for the HP guys that do little/no towing the 5sp is better for HP monsters and racing also has a better factory clutch... non issue in the auto's, they all need Bill K's help

And once Bill K's mods are done the feeling is awesome.

I have the 275's Va and PS module with Bills 91% VB & TC.

Any guess as to the Rear wheel HP with this combo?

All I can say is I am very happy and feel this is a very safe combo for the "average" BOMBer #ad

The VB & TC are mandatory on the auto at this level.

Bob, you should be around 275/575 at the rear wheels with the TC locked up, and I guess you would subtract around 10% for the convertor unlocked. DD had a graph on their website for a while that was called Stage 1 Pro, it was for DD1's, and their version of the EZ. It made 305/635 if I remember correctly.

Kat, send an E-mail to WIZ1, I think he has gone through the combo you are interested in somewhere along the way. It should be very respectable. I am guessing around 370HP for that combo.

A while back, Evan dynoed his truck (ETH+DD3s) and got 350hp+. Not sure what the plus was, but with the addition of the EZ and HX40, I would think you are around 400 or slightly greater.
I think the plus was cause his clutch was slipping and he felt more should have reached the ground... email him for the scoop.

Kat, the combo you'd like to try won't make it to 400 hp. Maybe 350 or 360 is more like it if you're lucky - don't know what you altitude is there. In my opinion it's much easier to get horse power out of an ETC than an ETH. Add a fueling box to the ETC and it gets major increases of power reguardless of the injectors used. Fueling boxes only show good increases on an ETH with stock injectors, and then it's not as large as an ETC will see. There are very few ETHs at 400 hp, even with propane, which blows their head gaskets. The ETC also has a better clutch.

Kat, in one week I will have my dyno numbers with that exact configuration. As the other members stated, the ETC is better suited for extreme BOMBing as you can stack the boxes and get a better yield. I spoke with Edge when I had a hot PE box sitting on the shelf and the EZ on the truck. Piggybacking the two only gave another 25 HP or so with the PE box on any level. Not so with the ETC. I was able to find an older TST comp. box, that I sent in for the remote upgrade. If I get it back and installed before the dyno, I'll try a run with that to see if it changes the numbers. Can't run it in combo with the EZ though as both boxes advance the timing. As Bart stated above, a few members have dynoed the ETH with the listed mods. and received results varing between 350-370 HP. I think Joe D. had a post about the DD supermental injectors with their VP44 mod. seeing something over 400 HP. in the ETH.

<font color=blue>Thanks for all the replies so far, normally I would have just "looked" it up in the old posts but I posted this as I was walking out the door, so to those of you that replied, thank you.

In regards to the question of "why", well just want a new truck is all #ad
I want 4 wheel disc, and a couple of options I would "change" around a lil differently this time around when I ordered it. This is not a huge priorority or anything just something I thought I might check into it for fun. I miss driving stick, and my one gripe about the auto is that its a lil harder to control the "tone" of the exhaust like you could with a stick. I know the boxes don't stack etc on the ETH, hence the nature of my question #ad
Was just curious is all..... and yes I know the ETC is much better suited to be the hotrod type, but i really like the 6 speed shifting characteristics which is why I "inquired". I am going to take a truck "overnight" and run around town with it and see how I like the 6 speed, also going to see if I "like" the quad cab. Was just "Thinking" outloud when I posted this thread.

99% chance I am keeping my truck unless somehow they make me a killer deal on a new one. So i'll keep my truck and pick up a new car to fufill my "need" to shift, since I just turned 25 my insurance finally went down... ... all the money I'll "save" by not trading the truck will go towards the downpayment on my new car #ad
Or the lift kit for the truck... . although still need to spray the Rockers with Perma tech..... #ad

I'll know more on everything Monday ... (payoff on my truck and how much the dealer will give me and how much the Mustang GT Convertable will run me).

Also in case your wondering where I have been... . lots of things have happened, mainly at work I have been too busy to "Read and post" to the TDR from work (until now) also got "bumped" off my job and onto the midnight shift and I lost my old days off, hence the reason I didn't make BD Dyno days, and the same reason that I might not make Muncie now. So trying to pull off a trip to May Madness instead (it works with my new days off)

Thanks again. <font size=-2>

Yes I am fine, just been busy is all mainly at work, and some other things... . Thanks for noticing I was gone #ad
I'll go answer that thread sometime today, and since I am on the night shift now, I should have more time from work to keep up with things.

<font color=blue>Well the dealer says they will give me 27k for my truck. 2001 Reg cab 4x4, Auto, 4. 10, Loaded 17,400 miles on it.

Real tempted to order up a new one, they said I can take a quadcab ETH and drive for a day see if I like it or not. What they will give me is more then what I owe on it... ... #ad
So pondering Quad cab, 4 wheel disc.....

In all honesty I will "proably" keep my truck at least till the 2002's come out and get one right before the body style change..... got something else in mind to pick up tho to keep me occupied #ad
Just debating if I want a 3 year lease or not... ... . <font size=-2>

Kat, From the pix I've seen and John_P telling me your truck looks good it will be hard to make this type of decision but when I did the same thing last October it made me a little nervous cause I really liked my old truck and it ran great!! But as time passes I'm finding that this ETH/DEE is more truck than I realized. It ain't no race machine so if you still like to put your foot in it then think real hard before you give up what you have, as you know its real hard to turn around and go back once the deals done. Me now that I've had the ETH/DEE with the 4:10's I'm hooked for a long time!!!

See ya... ... Pete

Kat, I ran mine on the dyno yesterday. 365. 8 HP at the rear wheels with the mods. listed below. Kinda puts it all in perspective when you see a new Vette run on the same dyno and put out 303 HP. I'm beyond happy with my truck right now, it really moves out when I want it to and the egt's, even on the dyno runs, never hit above 1200 pre-turbo.

I have the exact setup that Kat is looking for dyno numbers on, but I haven't dynoed mine yet.

I'll tell ya though... I'm absolutely 100% FED UP with this POS 6-speed. It shifts like absolute crap, and the new clutch only makes the problem worse. The clutch is definitely more capable than the stock one, but the truck is no longer fun to drive. Hell, it never really was fun to drive because of how poorly it shifts. I haven't driven a car with such a sloppy-feeling shifter since I brought my '98 Z28 home when it was new (and since replaced that shifter with a B&M Ripper).

I wish like heck somebody would make a better shifter for this thing. I'm to the point of ordering a stock shifter from Mopar4Less, disassembling it, and ripping out all the rubber isolaters in the hope that that'll cure the problem. It's either that or spend a TON of cash to buy an Allison 1000 out of a wrecked Duracrap and do a conversion... assuming for the moment that the thing would even fit in this truck.

What sucks the most is I already have the best truck made... I can't even say, "okay, I've had it, I'm trading it for a... ... ... "

Argh.

Hmm... this was supposed to be a reply about setup, and ended up being a rant. Sorry. #ad

Diesel Guy, I wish I was at 400 Hp, guess you could say that I have about 456 HP before the loss through the drive train, but the only number that I'm concerned with is the SAE rear wheel HP. I made 3 runs on the dyno, 4th gear(for kicks), 5th gear (direct drive, figured it would show the highest, not so on this dyno) and 6th gear, which gave the highest reading. It seemed like the lower gears simply spooled up to quickly to take advantage of the load that the dyno puts on the truck. My HP maxed out 90 MPH, we had now way to measure TQ as Bob Ida didn't have the adapter needed to see our rpm's. I' happy with 365, but would be happier with 400. #ad

mine ran 310HP/675ft-lbs with just a Powermax 3 on level 8 and 4" stem to stern.

total cost 425 + 699 =$1124

never seen more than 1050* preturbo, but she will cut the clutch loose every once and a while. #ad

The DD website shows 350hp/680tq with just their DD3's and a HX-40. The TTPM is supposed to add another 40-50hp, which should put a truck like RobG's in the 400hp range.

Bigsaint, you should be there too right?
