Amsoil Dual Remote Users----Heeeelp!

FASS rubber line inlet diameter? -8AN fitting?

I've been hearing more trucks lately that have a really nice, very deep, low pitch exhaust note, and are fairly loud as well. A lot of them have a chrome resonater tip. I'm jealous of the sound, but have never cared for the look of the tips. :D I currently have a 4" BullyDog system with muffler, that I put on ~3. 5-4 years ago. But I really want that Peterbuilt with 8" stacks sound. I don't really think I need a full 5" system for the power level I'm at. Would simply removing the muffler from my current exhaust do the trick, or do I need to get a tip to get the sound I'm after? If so are there any that would look more like a stock tailpipe (ie not chrome)? Or perhaps replacing the over the axle pipe with a 5" version? Or do I just need to suck it up and overcome my chrome aversion? If I were to go with a 5", would that do the trick, and is there a noticable spool up loss (I'm at high altitude, and do a lot of stop and go driving with 315s and 3. 54s)?

Thanks,

Pete

I have 4" straight pipe from the turbo to the stacks and it sounds awsome. I would think going straight pipe would do the trick. Try if and if it dont sound right get a tip. Or go with stacks they are the sweetest song iv heard. Oo.

Yeah going straight pipe would certainly be the easiest thing to do, especially since I have band clamps on the muffler (non-crimping). I have a feeling that your stacks are acting the same way that a big chrome tip would. Stacks aren't really an option for me, it would make it a little more difficult than it already is to load my slide-in, plus I'm already within 3" of my garage door when the campers not on the truck. :D

Forrest, do you have a resonator on? I called Rip yesterday about his 5" system and said it has a deep drone worse than the stock. Do you notice a drone with your City Muffler system?

And yes, no chrome! Stainless steel only! "Chrome don't get ya home"

On my stock system I am straightpiped with a 5" x 12" slash tip

I have no resonator...

I went from dual 5" stacks to the 5" system, and the resonance w/ the under-truck system was WORSE than with the stacks!!!

but I have added a lot of sound deadener and some stiff exhaust hangers, and now the interior resonance is LESS than when I had a 27x7" muffler on the 5" system!

if I had known just how painful the 5" straight system was going to be at first, I might have done something different... but now I am 1000% happy w/ what I've got. the sound is 2nd to none, and it turns heads big time! :D

I'm on my third system. first was a straigt 3" it sounded like a potato was stuck up it.

Second was straight 3" to stock resignator out 5" over axle.

third is 4" dn to 5" dynaflex cheater muffler (24") out 5" over axle w/chrome miter cut.

I think this is as deep as its going to sound short of going to stacks.
