I've been hearing more trucks lately that have a really nice, very deep, low pitch exhaust note, and are fairly loud as well. A lot of them have a chrome resonater tip. I'm jealous of the sound, but have never cared for the look of the tips.
I currently have a 4" BullyDog system with muffler, that I put on ~3. 5-4 years ago. But I really want that Peterbuilt with 8" stacks sound.
I don't really think I need a full 5" system for the power level I'm at. Would simply removing the muffler from my current exhaust do the trick, or do I need to get a tip to get the sound I'm after? If so are there any that would look more like a stock tailpipe (ie not chrome)? Or perhaps replacing the over the axle pipe with a 5" version? Or do I just need to suck it up and overcome my chrome aversion? If I were to go with a 5", would that do the trick, and is there a noticable spool up loss (I'm at high altitude, and do a lot of stop and go driving with 315s and 3. 54s)?
Thanks,
Pete
