Exhaust thread!!

Ok I am getting ready to buy a full 4" system, Tomarroo hopefully. But anyways I was wondering what everyone else is running... .



How you liked it?

Fit and finish?

Install time?

Help egt's and turbo spool up?

Drone?



I am nearly decided on the MBRP 409 SS system with a 5" tip. Planning on buying it from DPPI. Going to be around $550 out the door.



Goal is a nice sound, nice looks, and lower egts so I can slid my plate further forward.

I did the Jegs 4", SS, 3 bills and change. good kit. Comes with installation video which we promptly watched after we were done. I have had so many compliments on the sound from strangers, I need to have someone drive it for me so I can hear what they are talking about. I do like going under bridges, windows down, pedal to metal.

Rips 4" is awesome. With the Allied muffler you sure won't be disappointed. Kit comes complete & installation wasn't too tough either. A second set of hands helps things quite a bit though. I believe the aluminized is on sale for like $320 + shipping... .

For the $$$ it simply can't be beat IMHO!

I have the MBRP stainless duals in 4" from turbo back, with the DPPI muffler. Fit was fine, once I got the old one off. Finish is great, and those double wall tips, really set it off. The DPPI muffler got a little louder, once it started to fill up with soot. This thing sounds great, slightly louder than stock at normal speeds, just a deeper rumble out of it. But when you get on it, it roars like a tractor trailer. Cool. At cruise on the highway, it is barely noticable, definitely won't run you out of the cab on a long trip. When sitting at a light and I blip the throttle, it sure gets the ricers attention, like yanking on a dogs leash. I do notice that the turbo spools up a lot quicker and egts went down about 100-150*.

Jengle... I had the MBRP single on my last truck and am thinking about going with the dual setup for my current truck. Does it interfere much with the spare tire?

I'll answer for Jengle, since he and I put the MBRP system on his truck...



The answer is: No. BUT - you do have to be sure to do something about the rubber brake hose and the wires for the ABS sensor... otherwise... they'll be sitting right on the driver's side tailpipe.



I have the 4" 304 stainless exhaust from MBRP/DPPI... my only complaint is that I have a little bit of a drone at 70mph... and it could stand to be a little bit louder - but that would only make the drone worse.



You can't go wrong with the MBRP exhausts - they install slicker than anything else I have ever worked with.

MBRP Duals

The duals fit real well, you do have to protect the lines as was mentioned. You must have a 4x4 for them to work though, the extra height is required to get the pipes to clear the rear axle etc.

Had the 4x4... now 2wd. I'll be happy with the single though as I was with the other truck. I agree on the MBRP. Nice stuff there

Thanks for the responces so far. How was the install on the RIP's? Both the 4" and the 5"? They seem as though they would be tough to install. I want something that is easy to do with one other person.

What Holeshot said. I forgot about the lines, until he mentioned them. I put some tie wraps on them and it seems to be keeping them clear. One is a brake hose, the other is the vent line for the differential. I saw a post before, where someone had a 315 spare with this setup. Mine is stock spare and plenty of room.

Drone?

Not hard at all! A second set of hands though is helpful just when aligning the down-pipe & tightening the collector at the exhaust manifold. Other than that, piece o cake!

Drone?? What friggin drone? None at all for me. That was a concern of mine as well. I pull a 276 Cougar 5vr & the last thing I wanted was to listen to the ole lady :-{} about drone while pulling at the 2200-2400 RPM range... . None! Nada... .

For the money I don't think you can go wrong with Rips 4" exhaust. EZ install, kit comes complete, & sounds awesome IMHO!

Jengle's right - I thought it was the ABS wiring... I stand corrected. It was the brake hose and the differential vent hose.



More cab insulation certainly would help with the drone issue... on my '98 it is very, very minimal. WAY better than my '94 with the single stack setup I had on it...
