Well, I finally did my first diesel buildup on someone elses truck this weekend. It was a 97 like mine
The Mods: 4K GSK, KDP jig, mystery switch, 60lb valve springs (I & E), Full gauges, AFC spring kit, boost elbow, #10 plate, transmission service and band adjustment, valve adj (of course).
Overall it went well... some minor hitches :-{} , but I think I could do it in about half the time. especially the valve springs (never had done them before), will do them on my truck when I get the chance.
Only thing I noticed is instructions for the AFC housing break-off screws are way to complicated. Instead of using a torx bit and center punch and impact tool, I just used a hack saw blade and cut a groove in it to use the impact tool on it and get it out, was alot easier in my mind... anyone else do it this way?
End result ===== tons of smoke :-laf , go pedal like an ISB, need for sleep, some extra cash for my toubles, lots of pics(soon to come), and one happy driver... Oo.
Now I NEED a 4K GSK...
