We just put these on some of our work trucks for cheaper changes, better filtration and easier changes. We have run them for years, but have been slowly getting newer trucks to replace the older ones. Good solid setup and filter changes are around $60-70 dollars since you don't have to change the front one up front but every 2-3 years. We have had great luck over the years going 20,000 mile intervals on the Cat filters too. No injector issues in years since running the Cat filters on all of our trucks (14 of them). This picture shows the Racor filter, but we run the Baldwin which is easier to get at the local parts house

Get them on line for about 90 to 100 for both remember they last for 15000 not 3 or 7 . Taking off the front cap is a real pain. I made sure I torqued it to spec last time I changed the filter and it was still a bear . Last time the dealer did I had to use an impact gun to get it off. The socket you can buy from Genos is a good investment.
 
No need for that comment. Who do you know ( besides yourself) that researches the cost of all maint items before a purchase? If they did Ram would never sell a single Ecodiesel. In another year or two the aftermarket will have enough demand to produce our fuel filters and the price will reflect the wider availability. Baldwin already makes the rear sense it's originally a Racor piece and has multiple applications. The front won't be far behind.

Well I do. Already changed oil and filter to Amsoil. Will be doing transmission fluid, diff and both axles next weekend. Yes the filters are expensive BUT as you pointed out COMPETITION has a way of bringing down prices!!

I am new to diesels and just purchased a 4th gen 2500.

I understand that the front filter will not be touched and because the CAT filter is better, the front will not need replacement as frequent.

I also understand that this adds the CAT filter as an additional filter near the rear OEM filter.

What happens to the rear OEM filter? I see mention of either a Racor or Baldwin filter. Is the rear OEM replaced altogether with either the Racor or Baldwin?
 
Racor makes the filter for Ram. Baldwin also makes that filter. It's just 2 other sources for the filter/ water separator. That filter stays with the addition of the Cat setup.
 
Nothing like bringing a post back from the dead! We are now up to 17 trucks with this kit on it. All 17 kits for under the cost of 1 set of injectors installed..... We are also buying filters by the case and it's costing us $53 for filter changes every 20,000 miles. Not too bad!
 
I'd like to see ratings on the filters Mopar provides. From that link the "OEM" is too generic for me - I want to see proof.

Yes, replace filters when required, use the correct filters, or buy injectors when they go bad.
 
It says right in the first paragraph that "IF you buy the recommended brand of filters you now get better filtration than the 12's and earlier, but the issue now is the cost of the recommended brand of filters to keep you protected". From my research, you can get down to 3 micron if you install the Fleetguard (oem manufacturer) for the front canister, but both filters aren't cheap compared to this setup. These CAT filters are $14-15 and better filtration.
