Well the strom passed on buy and the weather eas nice and I got my sender installed in the tank and everything is working good. After in stalling it read about half way between 1/4 & 1/2. Filled tank and it took 21. 05 gal. to fill. There was about 14 gal. in the tank. So looks like it is reading pretty close.
Thank for all the help an especially to Ron Hensely for his e-mail on the quick disconnect fitting at the tank. With out that I more than likey would have screwed them up and had to buy new ones. So thank Ron.
Job went real well.

Im getting ready for fuel sender #9. . I bought the 7 year 100,000 warranty and was planning to use every bit of it. My truck is now in line to face a lemmon law buy back. 10 times in for right brake pull. . The last time they finally fixed it! Now it pulls like hell to the left. Thats really ******* me off in an election year! Anyways, with the 9 plus fuel senders and the several attempts on fixing my brake pull, Im ready to give up and see if I can find the guy I sold my 97 power stroke to. I will gladly pay his price to give it back to me!. Im very disapointed with my 98 12v. I owned a 90 and didnt have a bit of trouble. MAybe I should just ride my horse!

Phil,I've seen horses break down also. In fact quite a few of them pull to the left or right. What I like about my Dodge is that I don't have to feed it unless I use it.

Upon noticing that mine only read empty, I got one from the local dodge dealer and paid I think 30-40 bucks for it. The service manual talks about the fittings, etc, but I figured there was a better way and so I drove the truck for 500 miles from a full tank and disconnected the fuel filler hose and vent hose from the tank, put a transmission jack under the tank, unbolted both straps and carefully lowered the tank until I could get my huge pliers around the cap which removes the fuel pickup from the tank. At no time did I even attempt to disconnect the lines. I got the sender out and replaced it with the new one, and in about an hours time (coffee break included), I was on my way to the Diesel pump for a fill-up.
