I’d have more of a tendency to believe the brochure was incorrect.Or the window sticker was wrong…

The above monroney belonged to a friend of mine named Mark; he lived in Lexington, KY. We had a similar discussion over on CF once.
AAM’s site has lots to be desired. Some stuff is under Chrysler, some under RAM, some under GM/RAM.This makes it look like 2016-2018 ‘s only had 11.8” on 3.73 and 4.10 since this AAM article doesn’t mention 3.42’s for 11.8’s.

I cannot find 3.42’s in 11.8” from AAM, so it’s really looking like the window sticker is misleading.

Additionally.....I found this hilarious.....
The same 11.5” aluminum cover pan kit also fits the rear axle with the 11.8” ring gear. The part number is 74030017.
The aluminum cover was on the 11.8” setup first.....
.....and AAM’s site doesn’t even list anything for the 2013 MY 11.8’s......3.42, 3.73, or 4.10.Yeah I noticed that, which is why I didn’t sort by Vehicle and just looked at all their options. The only 11.8” stuff is 3.73 and 4.10.
Yes the diff cover fits both as the housing is the same, thou I recall it being a “Max Tow” option and only on 4.10’s, at least at first. Just like any aftermarket cover fits both.
The more I look the more I think that window sticker is misleading. I can’t find any solid evidence of 3.42’s in 11.8”, despite what’ve I’ve thought for years.

Technically......there was no 2013.0 model year, only 2013.5 as it was another emissions hump year and the 12’s were built through December of 2012 and the 13’s started around January 2013.Maybe because it was a late MY13 add on? Maybe too late to count as a 13?
But there still isn’t 3.42 listed for any year in a 11.8.

Under this link:

I agree and it also doesn't specify gas or diesel.
It lists the 2500/3500 under '20+ as a 12" and only 3.73's, no other gear set, anywhere.
Then under '19+, 11.5", it lists 3.73, 4.10 and 4.44 gear sets.
I assume the 4.44 is a gasser or GM.
Late to the game here, but I'm trying to figure out what size my ring gear is. I've got a 21 2500 ctd lsd rear diff. I ordered a banks diff cover for a ram 11.5 to 11.8" ring gear, 14 bolt pattern, and it doesn't fit. Holes don't line up. Is it a 12" ring gear? Now I've got a truck in my garage that ain't going anywhere. I'll give banks a call tomorrow. The part I orderded was the right year and bolt pattern.
That's what I figured. My build sheet says 11.50". It should fit. I was wooped after just removing the diff cover and draining the oil. 100° in my garage today. Going g to be worse tomorrow. All SO trucks have the 11.5" axle, the kicker is that it's in the same housing as the 12" R&P found on the HO trucks.

Anything could happen, but doubt seriously it's an issue. There website says it fits 11.5" or 12.0" axles, which matches what I said about them using the same housing. The only trucks it doesn't fit is the auto-level 2500's.
If the holes don't line up then you likely have the wrong cover as the older 11.5"/11.8" cover is different. There isn't a 11.8" on 19+ trucks.
I'd be too nervous about those ram air scoops catching a stick or rock and ripping the cover off...
