anyone using" XRF" front end parts , they are the 1st ones that i have gotten over a year out off ,thats here in Newfoundland canada where there is road salt for a minium of 6 months!

Very sad to say, but due to corrosion from road salt 5-6 months of the year where I live, I don't like doing repairs like this anymore. And to think it's my hobby! I recently spent two weekends trying to replace balljoints and tierods on a chevy. A simple job with the right tools (which I own) but miserable due to severe corrosion. I understand why people are being charged what they are at dealerships and independent shops whith what the mechanic has to put up with. A friend of mine was charged $2200 for balljoints, spindles, and hubs when the shop could not separate any of it. They finally just cut the balljoints from the axle and replaced everything outward including calipers. Road salt used in gross excess such as where I live is a crime in every sense of the word to the environment, roads, bridges, and our expensive vehicles. Tony

I put Federal Mogal (Duralast at AutoZone) ball joints in over 200,000 miles back, still in good shape. I am going back in to do my shaft/hub conversion. I went down to AutoZone for a new set of ball joints and they gave them to me under warrantee! told me to bring the old ones back in the same boxes. If $27 gets you 200K+ I don't see any reason to spend more for ball joints. Keep'um greased.

When will Dodge offer free wheeling hubs? It would save some diesel and some frontend work for awhile. I think it'd help. Too bad kits are so expensive for our trucks. My older truck with hubs got locked in for a few day once a month to oil it all. Never a problem.
