"ok" what if i owned a residence in oregon and had the truck registered there (second home) would I still be liable to register it in California?.

I see that this is going no where. All I can say is everyone pay your tax and plate fee in the state where you reside. Ive had 2 people (from this website) already ask me if they could use my Oregon address to avoid taxes. No way!. My guess is that the penelties work both ways. I paid the high cost of Calif taxes for way too many years. Now that Im retired, im enjoying the state of Oregon. As said by another board menber a few posts above, im done with this subject.

Its especially not going anywhere fast if Hunter1 cant figure out who he's arguing with :) That is funny as heck. Hunter has falsely accused YOU!

desert dodge LV

My friend Brent Stark is a sales manager at desert dodge. Over super bowl weekend he told me 32-33k out the door for a 3500 qc 4x4 fully loaded. I didn't read all the way though this thread, but if we get a big order I am sure he will hook yall up.

I am waiting for the the true crew cab he said is coming in mid 05.

If your are in Ca for more than ten days you have to have a ca lisense. (traffic school test question). If you work in ca your vehicle has to be liciensed in Ca. If you get pulled over and you have a ca liciense and another state plate and other state registration, inpound!!!! Happened to my dad's boat. had AZ plates and hull #'s. Truck had ca's with cal reg. inpound boat... . sucks

Hmmm... so what if you register the new truck in a friend's name who is the resident of another state, then "borrow" the truck which he's of course promised to "give" to you in a year or so... Even if you get pulled over by CHP, what are they going to say? All they can do is contact the owner and ask him if he let you borrow the truck... ;)

This thread has turned into a three ring "what if?" circus.

All I was trying to do was to inform people of the potential risk. You all can do as you please, DON'T say you weren't forwarned. With the exceptionally high cost of living here, I for one would be a little irratated if I were doing my part to pay my taxes(which I am) and a neighbor/friend/whoever told me of their master scheme to avoid taxes. Just make sure that out of state truck you bought has really good rear view mirrors.

I wouldn't be so upset paying CA taxes if they weren't misusing it! I work for my money and everyday I see people cashing their welfare checks and spending it on pizza and cable TV. Call it civil disobedience. Besides, I don't plan to break the law, but I'll do whatever I can to legally keep as much of my hard earned dollar as I can!

Hi all, I was going to try and beat the taxes in California also and buy in Oregon. Did alot of thinking about it and convenced my self it wasn't worth it plus my wife said she would devorice me if I got caught, now thats a idea

Gentlemen, for what it is worth I went on Autobytel, and Carsdirect to get the best deal. Lithia Dodge in Medford came back first and took my order (Mike C) and said he would see if he could find one. Meanwhile I went down to my local dealer here in Redding, CA and test drove one of the two 2004. 5 HO's that they just got in and bought it the next day for 36850. 00 Out the Door all fees paid. Mike C at Lithia called and said he pulled up the invoice for this truck and he couldn't beat it. Stated that "It was a Good Deal. " Magnusson Dodge (Steve) in Auburn, CA called me after I had made the deal and said he could probably save me 1000. 00 and deliver it but it was too late.

My truck is a Two wheel drive, SLT, with many of the options of the Laramie. I put 175 miles on it today and I am impressed.

Normally I am found in the First Gen section so this is a giant step for me.

This misuse of tax dollars starts the second they collect it. It happens at the federal, state, county and city level. Nothing you can do about it. I never implied that you are, were, or are thinking about breaking the law. Sorry if you took it as such;). The costs of doing business and living in California are at best frustrating, but skipping out on paying your share only makes it worse for all of us.

:D ABSOLUTELY agree! That's why I, whenever I can make purchases through mail order out of state to keep the Governator from getting anymore of my money than I have to.

Interesting topic, I live in MA and have to pay sales tax 5% when you register a vehicle and exise tax yearly, NH on the other hand does not have sales tax so people who own property in both states often register thier cars, boats, or whatever to thier NH address. Check this out, call 1800IPAYTAXES and listen to the message. It is a hotline setup to catch these people. Do you think they would set this up if it was not a problem, they were not serious about catching people doing it, and they were not making they pay for thier indescresion? MA and NH are small states, if they are doing this here you can be sure they are doing it in CA and other areas.

Hey when is a good time to talk. Brent wants to know specifics about your deal. He says that he can probably beat it. Very confident. This will help out other member. He doesn't care if one or 14 people come in. He will give them all the same deal. Just have to tell him that Chris Rettig sent them so he knows to give them a great deal. cause yall are my friends aren't you? lol

thanks

Chris

The Eric Todd Deal (the one worked out by Rick) is easy. Take Dealer invoice, deduct $1000. 00. A thousand bucks under invoice. Plus you still get your $2500 Dodge Rebate, and if you join the Farm Bureau you get the $500 rebate. Total of $4000. 00 under invoice. There is also a $70. 00 admin fee to the dealer, so in reality it is $3930 under invoice. Here are the stats on my deal:

MSRP: $44,205

Invoice: $39,534

Your Price: $38,534

Rebates: $3,000

Fees: $70

TOTAL: $35,604
