Does anyone out there know any easy way to keep the boost guage from rattleing when above 15 psi boost?

the guage is mounted on the a-pod and i can't seem to get it to quit rattleing when you get on it alittle or pull a hill !

TIA Steve:confused:

O ya, I have dipricol guages

The rattle you hear, is not really a rattle, but the vibrations of the motor.

I have heard many different fixes for this,, one is to move your Boost pickup line somewhere else,, (the noisest location to pickup your boost is by that bolt in the side of the head) Try drilling and tapping your intake horn,, or just add another 5'-10' worth of line coiled around itslef,, that will limit some noise,, or like Rock-n-Rammer siad, put a needle valve in line, and pinch it WAYY back.

a snubber can be purchased for mounting to the backside of the gauge. it limits the pulsations. the needle valve does the same thing. the closer to the gauge you have the snubber, the quicker the gauge reacts. if you have it all the way over on the engine, it is a little slower to react

I've heard of people installing a snubber inline with the fitting. I'm not sure the noise you're hearing is so much engine noise, but rather pressure waves resonating in the line to the gauge. Mine does this too, but I sort of like it... gives me an audible indication of my boost rising. The noise stops when I hit maximum boost.

Thanks for all the replys :)

I will try the snubber and see if it will stop. I have tried to secure the boost hose by tie wrapping it down along the cowl gutter but it didn't help. experience talks! I will try your ways of wisdom. :D :D

I had the same noise on my VDO boost guage after install. The techs at VDO suggested I plumb an inline plastic fuel filter in the boost line plumbing to dampen the pulsation in the line. Did it with some compression fittings and it has worked well ever since. This did not seem to change the guage response time.
