First two weeks in September a road trip to Yukon 2 k miles. Tok top of the world highway Dawson Whitehorse Skagway home. Will be my 5 th time so I know what to expect. Hope we get some fall colors and fall sunny days. Camper comes off when I get home

I would think my 21 inch tires rated at 4000 on the stock rims might be ok for my close to 7800 I have on the rear but I wanted more margin. Agree that if I were on rough roads or making an off road vechicle I would have gone very light camper and softest truck suspension I could match to it even perhaps a 1500 but that might be too light.

One think about the 19.5 is the stiffer sidewall not just the carrying capacity margin. I think my tires are 16 ply so aired down to 95 when not hauling. Yes they are stiff for sure.

Im new to this truck camper situation, was pulling an AF 27-5L prior but this gives me, wife and dog some flexibility we didnt have with the 5th wheel and more spontaneity. Where Im at in the sierras people reserve a year out at times so having a camper opens up more options for sure

Yes I like to take up less space and park in handicap in front of the store etc. I’m 23 ft I long now with the 3 ft basket uo front plus I’m sure loving my Rostra remote on the camper backup camera. Best $300 I have spent in a while

Dawson Ferry is out of service, for technical reasons- no one knows for how long.
There isn't even an estimate when they will be back on the river.

Across the Yukon at Dawson. Good to know. Thanks I will check that out . I was just doing miles and it had crossed my mind briefly that would suck to get all the way there and the ferry broke etc

About to order a roadmaster anti sway bar I think. Tell me I won’t regret it for my 9 months mostly winter driving I do. I normally have a floor mounted weather guard tool box in front of the wheel humps with winter gear tools shovel etc and about 250 -300 lbs of gravel bags way behind the wheels. Greatly improves the winter ride and traction. I don’t drive it that much in the winter. We normally use my wife’s Lexus . On my road trip I really didn’t have much issue at highway speeds with sway and did some pretty good winds etc but slow speed parking lots and driving in towns corners I get a bit of sway . I could drive this truck without them forever I guess but in the next few years I will probably be doing some major road trips so I think it might be worth it. I get home in 5 days and would like to get it ordered soon . It’s mostly about the off season ride not the money. If it’s a great improvement loaded then I’m buying one . On the fence help

$950 shipped from e trailer plus a couple hours install about $250 so $1200 total will I like it that much ? Mostly I’m worried about m empty ride I think

You will like it. It is a big improvement with a top heavy load, such as an overhead camper. Empty, you will loose some independent wheel movement, so you will feel some harshness when you cross over a hump with one wheel. It will show up as an abrupt resistance v/s a more gentle rocking/roll.

When I put the smaller Hellwig on my 05 I liked it empty or loaded. It made for a very stable truck and I don’t notice any negative impacts. I do a lot of back road driving and still had plenty of wheel travel for a 3500.

I carry a Lance 855s on mine. Same setup, SRW, Aisin but I also have the factory bags. I have no problems with this loaded. On my 2004, I did need the hellwig sway bar, but not on this guy. Rides terrific!

I have factory bags also. I only get some side sway going slow certain places not on hiway. But I would hate to lose my nice empty ride also . Then there’s the $1250 to buy roadmaster ship and install . I’m wait for the gravel bags to come out for winter 300 lbs behind the rear wheels and it will ride like a Cadillac plus good traction in the ice and snow that is to come very soon. We have some pretty low term dust now in our mountains

If you have factory bags why were you looking at the lower stable loads?

With the auto-level I doubt your ride changes much with 300lbs, plus that’s hardly enough to have a noticeable difference on traction. For a decent improvement in traction you need enough weight to get to a 50:50 weight ratio, but then you also have to stop that weight.

No matter what you do to it - you'll lose empty ride quality.
The factory setup is pretty much optimal for changing loads from empty to full.
Only a truck that has all the time the same load with a couple percent in between can be turned perfectly. Like mine for example.

My ‘05 was better all the time with the anti-sway bar, and with the airbags.

Not sure I’ll put an anti-sway bar on a truck with the OEM auto-level, but the biggest slide-in I’d likely do is a pop up.
