Joe:

I don't know how you feel about water but I would suggest you try one of those introductory scuba dives. When my wife and I went to Bora Bora for our honeymoon I got certified before we left here in Denver. Actually took my certification dives in Leadville at Turquoise lake at 10k elevation what a hoot. Anyway I was totally unprepared for what I saw down in Bora Bora. It was downright unbelievable. Those intro dives provide everything you need, they give you a short instruction and away you go. You don't go very deep on those (usually 20-25 feet though in Bora Bora I saw one intro group go to 60 feet which I wouldn't recommend without the full training) but it will be an expereince you will never forget. The stuff you see under there will blow your mind and though you don't go deep it is a much different experience than snorkeling.

I was just there in March. The North shore is a must, but look on the side of the road for the garlic shrimp bus. It is an old bus converted to a Food shack, they have picnic tables out front. The shrimp is out of this world, but the place don't look like much, an old spray painted bus. I can't remember the name of it, but they have the sign out for the garlic shrimp. It is on the road to the North Shore.

For nightlife, you have got to go to Dukes Canoe Club on the main drive in Waikkiki. No better place to have an evening drink and watch the sunset. Especially for a young single guy. It is awesome. The food is pretty good too.
